Totally forgot that I have £100 of House of Fraser vouchers from my birthday earlier this year. Going to wait til I return from holiday at the end of October and buy a winter coat as I need a new one.0

Afternoon Peeps!
I have finally given in and have put the flannelette bottom sheet onto my bed today and now I am looking forward to a nice cosy early night! Have had a busy day, making the most of the breezy weather, doing loads of washing of towels etc (love it when they are line-dried) and have laid out the fire, ready to light when the weather turns to Autumn again!

Bit drastic tho for a spider? I use fly spray myself. With about £3K for a funeral I find it quite moneysaving although the funeral is a one off expense I suppose.
YES! A can of Raid is an essential item for an arachnophobic household :rotfl: And AntStop is useful to spray around skirting boards and entrances as a preventative
On balance, I have to agree that fly spray is more :money: than a funeral0 -
Hi peeps, not posted for ages, but have been trying to keep up and "borrow" ideas!
We had the boiler and fires serviced this week, have bought a new quilt for our bed (one of those all seasons ones where you can use one or both of two different TOG quilts) and the car is going for a service soon. I haven't had a car box, but feel the need to do one this year, so that's one of this week's jobs, too.
This week I'm going to put away all the ultra summery clothes (hats, short sleeved tee shirts, etc), send the too-small stuff to CS, and check everyone's footwear. Kids are ok for slippers and sleepwear, maybe new dressing gowns needed, though. They each need a new flannelette sheet, and we're getting bunk beds before Christmas (for them, not us!), so it's a good opportunity to do more de-cluttering.
Need to find some bubble wrap for the bathroom and pantry windows, and fleeces for various windows and draughty places. Also make some new sausage dogs and buy a new runner for the hallway - we have lino down and it's so cold in winter!

Just to hijack the thread, sorry peeps, but have you noticed the 'new' raid is less effective? I used to just have one toxic fog job done. Now the wasps seem to get all aggressive revengeful mode and the flies seem to be doing that warped buzzing thing for ages.0 -
Hiya :hello:
I got so much from this thread last year and it's time to start implementing some of the great stuff I learned.
Think I may have to hire a dehumidifier as what I thought was a slow leak has turned into a major damp problem resulting in losing half the downstairs loo ceiling, that and the bathroom just feel so dank and I cant have repairs done until it dries out so will look into that this week.
Need to get some more of the fleeces from Ikea to line the curtains with (last years got used for lining the boot when taking some stuff to the tip and got thrown too)
Daughter needs boots, we both have wellies from last year.
Will get daughter to try on last years big coat see if it still fits but very much doubt it.
I will get my winter coat down for an airing, I had 2 last year (both over 10 yrs old lol) one sadly passed away so will try to get through this year with just the 1.
Must remember where I put the bag with all the hats, gloves and scarves in....hmmm
Fine for Jumpers and blankets.
Get car serviced, got a feeling brakes are ready for a change so will get that done sooner rather than later.
Tyres are ok as I've replaced them earlier in the year.
Sort out supplies for the boot.
Start grabbing a bag of grit every other week to stock up.
Up the heating budget from now to get a head start.
Went pj shopping last week.
Need some hot water bottles.
Will add to as I go.
Thank you for this thread as I think it really helps us with some great suggestions that would have otherwise not entered our minds :beer:Littlewoods £10 Very BNPL £234.42

DD woke to wet windows the past 2 mornings. That's what I get for putting the dehumidifier in another room I guess.
Its back in there and is filling up quickly again.
In my room I had a more mystifying problem, the insides of the window had steamed up. I don't mean the room side, I mean in between the two panes of glass, the outside pane was steamed up when the sun shone on it.:huh: Anyone have any ideas what it could be caused by? I'm guessing I need to call my landlady about it. This should be fun to explain as English isn't her first language and she quite often doesn't understand what I'm trying to explain.Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
So today I've managed to make a start on some of my "to do list"
**Changed bedding putting the flannette sheet on
**Added the second duvet as we have a all season one.
**Moved clothes around for winter wear, Vac packed the summer stuff.
**Get the thermal winter curtains down for the living room.
**Got the dogs bedding
The only 2 real urgent bits now is heating & food. Which is now at the top of my list.Future goals:
Become debt free.
Beat Depression.
Be happy & healthy0
