There is this on Amazon but it doesn't look as good as the other.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Extendable-Door-Drapery-Arm-Dormer/dp/B0042W37KM/ref=pd_bxgy_kh_img_z

we have one of these. ours looks really nice. does the job great swinging out when the door is opened.

the only a few minor of downfalls
1, the kids keep trying to draw back the curtain when it doesn't need it.
2, it doesn't automatically pull the curtain back when the door is closed. (have been thinking about adding some Velcro to the door and curtain to keep them together)
3, I find you need to push the curtain near the top to get the arm to sit flush when closed, but I might have set it too tight

hope this helps your decision making :)

Bought driving gloves and wooly gloves x 2 for me yesterday as well as some slippers for DS. Oh and a pair of Welles for me that look like posh riding boots. I wanted a pair of smart ones to get me across the football sized car park at work but look ok when I get there.

Also picked up some instant mash for the store cupboard.

After all the talk about new windows the man didn't show up last night. DH was:mad: they are coming this afternoon instead.

DS is getting a new big boys bed today (single) and is about ready to try no nappies during the night but I am a bit worried that a waterproof sheet under his cotton sheet is going to be really cold. He is quite a hot bod and kicks the covers off. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am supposed to be sorting out our bedroom curtains this morning but have been sat in the dentist chair for an hour first thing so feeling a bit wibbley wobbly.:(

put a cheap fleece over the waterproof protector as will wash and dry very quickly, keep them warm and absorb/contain some of the wet - plastic sheets take forever to dry a$da do them for £3 with free del to store - dontt botther buying the disposable pads as they are a waste of money! good luck we did it over the summer and i cant stress enough the 2 of everything as is the middle of the night with wee on the duvet, pillow and all the sheets its o fun if you have no spares!!

Thanks for the tips about the waterproof sheets. I hadn't thought about a spare duvet but I can see how useful it would be.

Packed away all my summer clothes and sandles today and had a good clear out, I found a pair of lovely leather gloves I thought I had lost about 3 years ago in an old coat so the ones I bought at mr t can go back:D

    I have a new conservatory roof :T:T:T

So not only will we be able to use that room in winter, it should also mean less heat loss from the living room windows. I've just been out there cleaning the windows and frames but given up now as its pitch black out there. I have got lights but really need daylight to see what a mess I'm making of the windows :p

The roofer commented on my cobweb situation earlier in the week, he said if I mix some lemon juice in water and liberally spray around (he meant outside but I suppose I could dab it indoors too) it would keep the creepy crawlies away. We get lots this time of year, found a mahoosive spider yesterday which I released in to the wild ;)

Have a couple more bits for my store cupboard too, did a big grocery shop and been getting a couple of tins etc each week.

In the next few weeks I will defrost the fridge freezer. I have a second one in the garage which isn't plugged in at the mo. So I'll plan a freezer shop for when I'm ready to switch it back on. Might pick a day when the kiddies are off with grandparents so I can batch cook and get all organised...

  • Swapped out my really summery clothes for some of my more wintery ones, been wanting longer sleeved work stuff all week, felt really excited seeing the great stash I'd hidden away, lots of it bought last year :)

Threw some useless stuff out too. Went out and got another giant fleece to block off my bath alcove (yes it's in an alcove in my bedroom...) when it gets even colder, I did it for a while last year too but I now have one of the fleeces lining the bedroom curtain and the other as my top sheet to sleep on!

It's like 175x250cm, £5.99 in Store Twenty One.

And I finally discovered A1di..... Stocked up on cold and flu tabs and microwave rice lol

DH is replacing the overhead light in the diningroom (was a beautiful Tiffany replica but rubbish light), and we've replaced the downstairs lampshades for something lighter - it's very dark in here at the best of times so we figured every bit helps heading into winter.

Re cobwebs and spiders - Don't know if anyone has already mentioned this but conkers deter them. Put a couple on window sills/skirtings etc. I don't mind them but my mum hates them and swears by this. Just the right time of year too!

My 9 cats say 'Ooh look - shiny new toys! Let's bat them where Mum and Dad can tread on them in the dark!'
