I found that it wasn't me for once, as I had a similar problem and found that when I used the word wellies autocorrect (even on typing this I had to go back and retype) changed to willies. Guess it doesn't recognise our localism for wellingtons :)

  • So I’ve managed to get my list down over the past few weeks with just the bigger items to get now.

Gas bottle (Only being used when needed)
    Doggie blankets & Jumpers
    Medications
    Food supplies
Set of curtains (C/S seem to never have any)
    Pet supplies
    Get OH work wear
    PJ’S & Slippers

I’m sure there is a few smaller things I will relies I haven’t done or checked, However, Having the bulk of winter prep done is refreshing. Most of the items I can get at the £shops locally.
I’m looking for some idea’s on what I can give OH for winter lunches as he doesn’t have access to a kitchen, microwave ect. So I would need to cook / heat it here in the mornings for him before he leaves for the day.
I managed to buy a plastic flask type thing at a!di a few months back, So I have something that he can use for soups ect. But does anyone else have some ideas what else can be used for hot lunches other than soup?
    Future goals:
    Become debt free.
    Beat Depression.
    Be happy & healthy

I'm making a start towards winter preparations now!

Got myself 2 of the Ikea fleeces (millions of purple ones, as XSpender said - luckily I have purple curtains!) and will mention this to my mum and hope she offers to line the curtains for me. (Not just lining - they were a £5 charity shop buy and are too wide so need adjusting).

Also got my brother to put a sliding lock on the inside of the porch door tonight. If that is shut securely it will help prevent draughts getting under the front door into the house.

Need to order a tonne of logs (we burn 4 tonnes in a bad winter as we don't have central heating). Need to put the pallet down to get the air underneath them but at the moment it is propping up next door's weatherbeaten fence...

Also must get another 2 pairs of wellies as bigger son borrowed mine and there is now a hole in them.

Must also remember to put antifreeze in the car. It has a very slow water leak and I've been topping it up with just water so the mix will be too weak.

I think I have had a reality check this morning that prepping for winter needs to kick in quick! Hanging out the washing at 6 o'clock this morning and a skein of very noisy geese went over! Something we never see until October or slightly later :-(. Off to make a list now!

Blankets have started creeping onto my bed of a night as its too chilly for just the sheet/quiltcover but still too warm for the actual quilt to be put back on. Also noticed dew on the roof tops/cars which I haven't seen for a while. I even wore a jumper at the weekend. Guess I need to get my backside into gear and get all the jobs done outside!
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.
Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!

Get radweld (about £4 from any decent car care place or motorway services), it'll sort out the leak. You shake the bottle, pour it in. Turn on the engine and run the engine at about 2500revs for 20-30 mins. No more leaks.
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

Earlier this week I sorted through the coats, gave away 3 to the small child across the road, another 4 are destined for the CS, the rest I washed (about 20 jackets, coats, kagoules!), most hanging back up, but the really heavy ones are in the wardrobes for proper cold weather.

Bought the kids some thick ski-type gloves, need hats, too, but that can wait until next week. Don't want to leave stuff until the last minute again! Going to sort their pyjamas, slippers, vests, underwear this weekend, and make an exact list of what they need.

DH cut the lawns this week, just in time as it rained very heavily overnight. Lots of garden tidying to do, but grass is the biggest job, so glad it's done. If it fines up during the next few weeks, it might need doing again, though!

Nothing planned for this weekend, so I'm going to get hall runner, sort draught excluder tape for the doors, and make some sausage dogs for the exterior door.

    A xo

    Hi

I notice that Aldi are promoting some winter stuff on 12 September.

    https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/specialbuys/thursday-12th-september/

The pipe insulators look good, as does the outside tap cover.
I got there - I'm debt free and intend to stay that way. If I haven't got the cash, it doesn't get bought. It's as simple as that.
