I made one with a similar idea in mind - I actually made 2 draft excluder snakes (used an old duvet, cut and rolled and popped a cover) then attached several lengths of ribbon between the two (the ribbon went under the door). Worked really well.

wow..I never considered using and old duvet..what a good idea! How does the excluder keep in position when you open the door?..and did you use ribbon as it's quite shiny and not too much friction with carpet?

    thanks!

I used ribbon as it was all I had, it stayed in place just fine. I had a huge gap under my door so carpet friction wasn't an issue.

I think I'm feeling the cold more at the moment because instead of a gradual drop, the temperature has dropped about 10 degrees in 2 days! Brrr! I'm resisting putting the CH on.

I went to Hawaii a few years ago followed by Vancouver in the middle of a 36 degree heat wave then Vegas (ah, to be a student again!). I normally don't feel the cold much but when I got home I couldn't get warm for about a month. Funny how quickly you acclimatise to the heat. This Summer has spoiled us.

Oh well, it may help me lose a few lbs :)

I made mine from heavy duty cloth tape and two pieces of copper pipe insulation. The foam stuff was lurking at the back of the airing cupboard when we moved in. It's pretty big so it covers large gaps nicely.

To make mine, I laid a piece of sellotape under the door widthways, on its back (as it were), then laid the tubes on it to line them up with the door. Repeat the other end and you have your shape. Cover it over and about with sellotape to make sure no sticky bits are visible, and you're done. I've had mine since before the cold weather last year and it's showing no signs of wear.

Yup, Thursday afternoon my windowsill thermometer was almost 30C in the sunshine, yesterday, barely 15-16C... Just below 10C this morning.

And my bedroom temp had dropped from 23-24C from last week to about 18C last night. Haven't got the fleece blankets out yet but the socks and PJ have returned.

You know what I want? Fitted fleece sheets. Biggest/best thing last winter, fleece blanket to sleep directly on top of.

Oh, and a new little heater, my old one died earlier this spring :(

Does anyone know what a microfibre sheet is? It comes up when I search for flannelette sheets.
