Having worked in student guidance has given me quite a reasonable knowledge of benefits. Do you have a problem with that?0 -

I can't work out how to quote to the specific part of your post that I want (so I've quoted to the general thing). Sorry about that.
Anyway, I think a problem with those figures for 16-25 year olds is that between those years, there has been a huge crackdown in the availability and the ease with which underage people can access alcohol. There's "Think 25" and also the routine ID check of everyone as you go into a club.
I did have a quick look back to see the percentage of people that were 16-18 but I couldn't find it.0 -
There were enormous numbers when I was last in HE 10 years ago. It's either changed over that period or perhaps you're not spending time with students in the places where they're allowed to smoke?
Did you go to a Uni frequented by students from lower socioeconomic groups? There is plenty of evidence that lower socioeconomic groups of all ages smoke more, which might explain the different perceptions of young people's smoking habits. If you keep doing what you've always done - you will keep getting what you've always got.0 -

Sorry, I never asked them what socio economic groups they came from.0 -

You are joking right?
So only the poor people go to lower league table universities? And only rich people go to higher league table universities?0 -

You total and utter snob!0 -
So the veggies negate the effects of the saturated fat?
Have you heard about lean mince?
I would say having plenty of veggies in there is pretty counterbalancing - add some broccoli on the side.
But goodness me I really can't believe that my daughter is basically being castigated for cooking her own food, meal planning and having a go at batch cooking.
Perhaps you'd better get yourself over to old style and the frugal threads and warn them of their potential impending demise thanks to a bowl of chilli here and a portion of shepherds pie there.
Or how about a getting the government to issue a warning to students - Danger Death by Shepherds pie! Please continue to eat takeaways and fast food crap until further notice. Home cooking will be severely punished!
Now cutting her own hair in order to economise was apparently a step too far! That has been a bit of a disaster apparently! :rotfl:Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.
