And apparently, students drink less than other young working peopleStudents 'drink less' than young workers
They have a reputation for spending all their time in the pub, but a new survey suggests that students are more responsible drinkers than young adult workers.
A poll of around 1,700 young people reveals that students are more likely to drink less, and less likely to find it acceptable to end up in hospital or in trouble with the police due to alcohol.
But three in 10 students (30%) still admit to blacking out, or losing their memory after drinking too much.A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step

From NHS Choices.
"Studies show that students are more likely to drink, smoke and take drugs than the general population."
What's the point in comparing students with "the general population"? The general population will include children and old people for starters. So yes of course students drink more than children and old people....

There were enormous numbers when I was last in HE 10 years ago. It's either changed over that period or perhaps you're not spending time with students in the places where they're allowed to smoke?
From NHS Choices.
"Studies show that students are more likely to drink, smoke and take drugs than the general population."Tobacco: Last month, NHS analysis suggested the proportion of English 16- to 19-year-olds who have never smoked has risen from about two-thirds in 1998 to three-quarters now. And the data is just as striking among their younger brothers and sisters. In 1982 most 11- to 15-year-olds (53%) had had a sneaky cigarette at one time or another. Today, just a quarter has ever spluttered over a fag behind the bike sheds.Alcohol: It is a similar story with booze. In 1998, 71% of 16- to 24-year-olds questioned said they'd had a drink that week. Today it is 48% - far lower than their parents (about 70%). Among 11- to 15-year-olds there are similar big falls. A decade ago, 26% reported they'd had alcohol in the previous week. Now the data suggests the figure is 13%.Drugs: Last week, the Home Office published analysis which suggests the proportion of 16- to 24-year-olds that have ever taken illicit drugs has fallen from 54% in 1998 to 38% now. Among 11- to 15-year-olds the figure has fallen from 29% to 17% in a decade.

Don't worry Dunroamin/ONW and I have had a few run ins in the past but I also respect her opinion at times and horror of horrors agree with her at times too.
In fact that is a more regular occurrence these days.

No it wouldn't.
I don't frequent the Benefits Board.
It would be in DT.
Why do you ask? Here dead we lie because we did not choose

Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,

Would that meet with your approval?

Or how about lentil and red pepper sauce which she made last night.
Onions, red peppers, tomatoes, garlic and lentils so there's four of your five a day though probably not portion wise add a glass of juice and a large salad.
She's getting down the market and buying lots of vegetables and looking at what she can do - please don't worry for her health.
Healthy eating did go out the window this week as it was her birthday but now she's craving fresh healthy food.
Oh and I reached the grand old age of fifty in April - must be because I kept my consumption of shepherds pie and chilli to a minimum! Here dead we lie because we did not choose

Presumably only sirloin steak and fresh tuna are considered healthy by some people with more money than sense.0 -

I think you'll find that has to pay for their accommodation as well. To think anything else is quite ridiculous.0
