In terms of whether you need to provide these details, others have already confirmed that the courts are entitled to know the income of the household, and that includes you. You're not liable for his debt though.
Sounds like failure to declare drivers details fine, if it is it's usually 6
Points instead of the normal 30 -

It's an offence not to complete the form with the 'means' information and that offence in itself can result in a fine of up to £500.
Don't mess about writing in 'partner pays' instead of the correct figures, unless you want him to get fined for this additional offence as well.
It's not something that's optional, fines are set according to the household income/expenditure. Having separate bank accounts etc is irrelevant. I don't know if you could get in trouble for non-cooperation, as well as him, but why risk it. Seriously, don't mess about with legally required court forms.
Also, just so you know, providing false information is also an offence with a fine of up to £2500.
Have a little respect for the legal process.
Its not about having no respect for the legal process, its about not understanding why the court should need the details of my income when I didn't actually commit the offence. I didn't drive through a red light. The only offence I'm probably guilty of is of writing " Paid by partner" on the form which I did last night but its ignorance based guilt nothing else so if they want to throw the book at me for that then they can go ahead and do so because I didn't know that I couldn't write that on the form in the first instance. I've actually found the forms on top of the fridge freezer tonight ( OH hasn't returned them god knows what he's been doing today!!!) and have now written my outgoings at the side of my " paid by partner" comments so they can see what my outgoings and earnings are although its really nobodys business but my own, not even OH's which is one of the reasons I'm so very upset about all this. I support him but he has no idea about my income and how much I earn and spend and I would have preferred for various reasons to have kept it that way. Its not secrecy as I don't have anything to hide, its for privacy because there are some things given the state of our relationship at the minute that I would just sooner keep to myself. I didn't commit the offence yet I have to give details of my income and outgoings, despite the fact that I am not married to or linked to OH in any way. That somehow seems very wrong to me given that I was not responsible for the offence in the first place!!!!. I've made it clear that we keep our incomes separate from one another and that I'm not willing to take responsibility for the mess OH has got into. In actual fact I'm really, really upset that I've been dragged into this at all and would be more than happy to stand up in a courtroom and say so if necessary. If they decide to give him the maximum fine then so be it. He'll have to deal with it because I'm sick and tired of having to bail him out financially and sort out the messes he gets himself into. He drove through the red light, he can sort it out its nothing at all to do with me, I'm not legally married to him and the house and everything is in my name, I have nothing to hide and nothing to feel guilty about or to give false information about so I don't see why I should have to be involved in this at all to be honest. I'm sorry if I sound as if I'm ranting when you are trying to help but as you've probably guessed I'm very upset about all this!!!! Thank you for the advice anyway though.loobylou2.Proud to be dealing with my debts and aiming to sort out the mess in 2013!!!!:eek:0 -

Can you not ring the court and find out what they suggest? I'm still not sure why you think you will be accountable for the fine if your accounts are separate. What do you do when you apply for credit, because usually they ask for household income.MSE Forum's favourite nutter :T0 -
I try not to apply for credit but when I do I give them my income and don't take his into account because I don't class the miniscule amount of old age pension he gets as income!!!!loobylou2.Proud to be dealing with my debts and aiming to sort out the mess in 2013!!!!:eek:0

Why do you think you will be accountable for the fine? Surely it will be in his name?MSE Forum's favourite nutter :T0

Well it should be in his name but that dosen't really explain to me why they need the details of my income and outgoings when he committed the offence, thats what I'm really struggling with tbh and thats why I'm wondering if they are about to try to hold me liable for it and make me pay the fine even though I didn't commit the offence and just live with him!!!! Although I can see from some of the previous posts that it may be so that they can means test the amount of fine they give him. That may actually be a good thing and I can live with that although I'm still not happy about it because theres no way on earth he'll be able to pay a £700 fine if thats what they give him and so muggings here will probably end up paying it anyway in order to keep him out of jail. If they means test based on my income and outgoings though I can see that they could reduce the fine which would in itself probably be a blessing as far as I am concerned if I end up paying the damned thing for him or lending him money so he can pay it himself!!!loobylou2.Proud to be dealing with my debts and aiming to sort out the mess in 2013!!!!:eek:0

Maybe they just want to work out how much they can take from him each month without crippling the whole household? That could be why they want to know the setup.0 -
Why would a 36 in a 30 be going to court? No way...Driver awareness course 1st then fixed penalty £60 + 3 points is offered for those speeds...Someone is holding something back..
http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=24748It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
If he hasn't posted the forms, and hasn't seen what's on them, can you take a copy and post them off without him seeing? That way he doesn't get access to your information? Doesn't sound as if he'd be sufficiently organised to take note of it ...Signature removed for peace of mind0
