If you're in the market for this type of handset, I think the Note 2 will be worth waiting for. Don't get me wrong, the original Note is awesome, but if I had one criticism, it could be a bit faster and smoother."There may be a legal obligation to obey, but there will be no moral obligation to obey. When it comes to history, it will be the people who broke the law for freedom that will be remembered and honoured." --Rt. Hon. Tony Benn0 -

Reminds me of the Dom Joly sketch

I haven't used an S3, but I love my S2.
Personally I wouldn't worry about getting the S3. Yep they say the camera is better, I can't imagine how, the camera on my S2 is brill .
You should be able to get the S2 for free, on £21.50 per month. I did back in February, before the S3 was out.
Try phones4u.co.uk, http://www.phones4u.co.uk/basket/ShowBasket.asp?ik=581332, or call and ask for upgrades.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -
seems expensive. Shop around and then negotiate.
Samsung Galaxy S2 available from as cheap as £15 a month now.
You can get a £21.50 bundle using O2 from Affordable mobiles that give unlimited mins and texts and 1gb of data.
Granted its a redemption deal but over the 24 months it works out.0 -
I have an S3 and have given my S2 to my better half, Loved the S2 but for me the S3 is a lot slicker, faster and smoother (and will hopefully get the latest android updates before the S2, very important to me).
I agree with some comments that the screen is big, but i have big hands so not an issue for me
I have found the battery life better on the S3 so far, but that could be down to the kids installing loads of apps on the S2

I went from an S2 to an S3, and although my S2 was great, the S3 is so much better. I love the big screen, it's great for Internet browsing, the battery life is much better, and its faster. I compared it the other day with an iPhone 5, and would take the S3 over it any day.Debt free and staying that way! :beer:0

Would they offer you anything better if you were leaving though? I phoned up to cancel my contract with virgin today and got a great deal from them. The phone my ds wanted (bb curve 9320) unlimited same network texts and minutes, 200 mins, 300 texts, bb services and 500mb data with free insurance (usually £7.99) for £8/month. So might be an idea calling up to ask for the disconnections team? I know this isn't the kind of deal you're looking for but just goes to show the difference when you say you're going to leave. This deal is usually £15/month.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

The S3 is not made from cheap or recycled plastic. I hear this argument many times, but it's completely bogus.
It's actually made from an expensive polycarbonate which absorbs shock. All those who praise the high-end HTCs and old iphones for "feeling more expensive" are missing the point. A hard metal shell transmits shock to more sensitive and vulnerable areas, whereas a polycarbonate shell absorbs more energy and transmits less shock, as well as being lighter.
As for the size being unwieldy - well on jumping from an ancient SE P910 to an S3, I don't find that at all. On the contrary it makes watching video a pleasure. The fact that it is so thin and light makes it feel less bulky anyway.
I was weighing up the Note, but I found the S3 more easily pocketable, whereas the Note can cause occasional problems - say if you want to stick it in the pocket of a pair of tight jeans.0 -

My mother got an insane retention deal from Virgin - Galaxy Ace Plus, HTC Desire or Xperia U for £15, unlimited everything for £13 pcm including insurance. Effectively £5.00 pcm without insurance for unlimted Calls, texts and data, plus a £150-£180 phone for £15.
Maybe Virgin are keener than most to hold onto their customers and establish themselves as a mover and shaker.0
