OS DAILY 5th APRIL
Comments
-
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for |Apr 5th. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

Morning everyone
Another one for the problem-sleeper club here, although I know why I couldn't sleep. My DH was snoring so loudly, I just couldn't block it out. I did the usual (waking him up, tryiung to turn him over, kicking him, threatening to smother him) but nothing worked. Too much red wine for him, and none for me!
So, I slept late this morning, and I can't fit in going to the gym before I go out for lunch. The gym is closed tomorrow, sunday and Monday, so there goes my good intention of going every other day. (Can't go Saturday as I am cycling to our monthly farmers market).
Not much OS this morning, just washing the cat beds one by one, and doing a quick swish & swipe in the kitchen. I'll make up for it tomorrow.
Jan, good luck to your son;
DLB , food luck with your FIL
Twink, what a lovely day for a long journey. And it'll be lovely to see him at the other end.
To those going awa y - have a fab rime, hope we have good weather for you

Good morning everyone :j
Haven't posted for a while, but I have been reading what everyone's been getting up to
I had a traumatic Friday last week, my two budgies (Bluey and Whitey) were outside in their cage enjoying the sunshine, when I heard a crash, went out to see what had happened and Bluey had flown away and Whitey was hopping around the garden, I managed to get Whitey inside and looked after him for an hour or so, but he died, I expect from the shock. So we are again a pet free household
On a more OS front I made a delicious lamb stew in the SC yesterday (and I have leftovers today for my lunch - so I can heat that up in the microwave at work). I also made some gorgeous Simnel Muffins yesterday - which I've brought into work today.
My boss has just come round the office and given everyone an Easter present - mine was a box of Thornton's
Have a great day everyoneSquares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Hullo hullo hullo!! :hello:
This isn’t so much a post of what OS stuff I’ve been up to (have still been OS though, promise!:p )…..but felt that I had to post to share my plans with you all!! As you may have noticed I’ve been away from MSE for a loooong while, no real reason just that I’ve been spreading my wings and felt that I haven’t needed to rely so much on MSE, which I did heavily for a long time, it will always be my t’internet home though! But I felt really, really good as I was able to continue my DFW ways and OS ways on my own, bit like riding a bike without stabilisers! Before finding MSE I was a total nightmare!! And now (cheesy as it may sound!!) I feel totally relaxed and am a total dream!!
Anyway, am waffling now!! What I wanted to share with you all are my plans, and it feels only right to share my plans with my virtual family!
Well….. in 3 weeks I am handing in my notice to leave my day job:eek: . I am also doing the same with my part time jobs. I then leave all these jobs on 25th May 2007, scary stuff as I’ve never been without a job since I was 13!!!!!! A week later, BF and I are off for 8 weeks to travel around Europe! We will be backpacking, I am sooo excited! So that’s the first big thing, and that is what I am saving for, see figures below and also for countdown!! :j
Next big thing….. I am going back to full time education!! I am going back to college for a year to do an Access to Initial Teacher Training course and then next September I’ll be going to uni to train to be a Primary School teacher!!! Finally doing something and feeling amazing about all these new changes!!! Start of my new life soon!!! Got to find myself a part time job when I get back and put an end to these 70 hour weeks .
And I truly think that I couldn’t have done any of it without discovering MSE:o .
I am so pleased to be sharing all this with you!!
Love and hugs to you all!

Hi everyone,
So pleased to hear your news Purple princess. I hope you have a wonderful time in Europe and that you future goes well.
Feeling happy today because the four day weekend is looming and DD and Bf will be coming to spend it with us, so the whole family will be together.
Bought a reduced pork loin last night and a half price salmon so that's tonight and tomorrow sorted. Might do gammon on Sat and then chicken on Sun, will have to think.0 -
Hi Danna - my DH snores all night but, for some reason and, luckily for him, I find it comforting! I know most people can't stand their OH snoring! For his own sake, though, I bought him some of those Breathe-easy plasters which you put over your nose before you go to sleep and it opens the nostrils! His main problem is that during a mischievous childhood he sustained two broken noses (or should I say, the same nose broken twice!) and it was not looked at properly by anyone medical. Perhaps his mum didn't notice?! Anyway, when he snores he stops breathing (sleep apnoea, they call it) sometimes for ages - I have to poke him to get him going again (Oh, such power - if I'm cross with him what would happen if I didn't poke him?). He's not overweight so it must be the nose. Even though he thinks he sleeps soundly all night long he still wakes up tired. Anyway, I digress - the plaster strips are the astronomical price of £6.99 for ten in the shops here but I found a supplier on eBay called 'primitivestuff1' and bought 114 for £20.00 plus £3.45 postage all the way from the USA! I worked out that we have saved over £55.00. Anyway, given them a go. If your OH doesn't want to try them, do what I did and stick it on when he's asleep! they have made a real difference.
Hope you have a brilliant day! Weather's great isn't it?:T :easter:

Hi Purpleprincess - I'm relatively new to the thread and have been really enjoying getting to know everyone. good luck with all your plans. My DH and I 'did' Europe on a motorbike many summers ago and, although we've been on various holidays since, nothing has come close to that for sheer excitement and freedom of the road! Thoroughly recommend it!
My future daughter-in-law has just signed her contract to start teaching in September and she is so excited and can't wait to start. She didn't intend to teach when she first got her degree but suddenly, last year, decided that's what she wanted to do. She had to do two weeks 'work experience' at the local comprehensive and she loved every minute of it. So good luck to you!
