I thought this was a money saving expert site?
I am pointing out - from first hand experience - the pitfalls of such warranties that therefore you might want to save your money instead. Why is that bitter exactly? Am I on the wrong site?
Its already posted many times on this forum that those type of warranties are not worth the paper they are printed on. Shame you didn't join prior to purchasing one ;)

why does it matter what the age and mileage is?
of course it matters turbos do not have an infinite life. everything is based on mileage, brake pads, oil change, timing belt etc

Right, so a common failure (through poor maintenance) component that your friendly local indie will swap for around £500 is now reached the point of getting a metallurgist involved? How much for his sworn evidence that proves that a manufacturing defect is to blame, £2k+?
Best of luck in getting the answer you want.

Then why are these companies allowed to keep selling them?

Anything to do with cars is all one way IMO

And in other news, grass is green, the Popes Catholic etc etc. I think your preaching to the wrong people, the people on here know that. I think people mistakenly thought you came to the site for advise and help

Its not just cars, its electrical goods, phones, computers etc etc. I think spending money on warranties in general is a waste of time, better to put the money in a savings account. They are always included in those 'Top Ten taxes on the stupid' lists.

The OP might also have rights under the SOGA but as the basic info about the car (how long they have owned it etc) is such a big secret how can anyone help

Have to agree- most people here already know that there is very little point in buying any warranty for any product. Car warranties seem to be a particular joke- I remember I had one back in the 1990's and after reading it discovered that it just about only covered the drivetrain and I remember thinking that I 've never met anybody who broke a drive train!

alot of the time for the price of the warranty you can source the parts and fix it yourself for less
i remember i bought a cheap dvd player was £20 was asked did i want the warranty which would be an extra £10 i said no as more than likely able to buy a new one for that if this one lasts more than a year

I have never bought a warranty either, doesnt alter the fact that they should deliver or they should be taken to task just as the banks have been over PPI.

I cant belive how many on here just say they shouldnt pay up...are you all dealers?
