momentum warranties - the wear and tear scam

Seems I too have been hit by this situation:
12 year old vehicle, purchased 4 months ago from a dealership who took out the policy on my behalf, as part of the car package.
I've driven the car for for less than 1000 miles, and been told the fault is due to excessive driving, and wear / tear. Bill £1700.
We purchased the car for £3500.
I'd be surprised if any sort of a failure on a 12 year old car isnt down to wear and tear.
Whats the car and whats the problem?0
