  • Evening all :hello:

Just been catching up and watching the Bake Off. Think I'm finally up to date :D
Still feeling crappy though, so bunged up and after work today I've got hardly any voice left either. They were all telling me I could make a fortune on 'certain' phone lines with my husky voice  :rotfl: If I thought it would last I might consider it ;) :A I've just decided I'm not going in tomorrow though, can't face it.

Nipped out earlier and did a quick trip round A's. DD has decided she loves Shreddies, so went to get a couple of boxes of them and a few other bits. Used 4 apgs, 2 were only for small pence and 2 just over £7, the SA was lovely and didn't bat an eyelid, she was too busy telling me all about her and her bf's matching onesies! I have no idea why, but it was very amsuing :rotfl:

And there was FLUMPS in my A's tonight :D:D There hasn't been any before, that I could find anyways, but there was a whole box tongiht. Didn't need them for filler purposes or anything. I bought 10 :D

Thanks to all who have replied re: food slicer. As for elec carving knife, Nikki, I have one of those and love it. Wouldn't be without it for the Sunday joints!

Does anyone here own a food slicer? I've been thinking about getting one for a while, with the idea that I could boil my own hams etc then slice for sandwiches, getting more economical slices than I get with an ordinary knife. They seem to be available from about £35, does anyone have any thoughts or feedback?

I have one, I love it it makes joints of meat go sooooooooo much further I used to spend a fortune each week on o/h sandwich fillings, now I slow cook a joint of whoopsied beef and slice it up and freeze in sandwich portions, next week I will do the same with a gammon, then a boneless turkey crown, they are fiddly to clean, I keep a toothbrush which I dip in milton fluid to clean the nooks and crannies

I got my in argos it was half priced around £17 2-3 years ago

I also slice iceberg lettuces, blocks of cheese, onions amongst other things :)

  • Am hoping there are some interesting new items available from tomorrow. Am bored of the usual ones now. Haven't gone mad and have no JF products as we don't use them. Haven't been into A for a few days.

Just back from SW weigh-in and got my 4 stone award and reached my target (for now anyway, may lose another half stone in a few months)

I would never push anyone to lose weight if they don't want to, but the SW diet is amazing and I'm so glad I finally found something that works without having to be hungry. :D
  • Oh... I see the bar is closing for essential maintenance at 1am. I heard there were cracks in the ceiling?

I think you'll find they're kept in very different conditions. Read Jamsponge's posts, or even pm her, I'm sure she'll fill you in.

I'll try to look at it, but my point was simply that to some people who think meat is murder, it doesn't matter how cute the animal is before you eat it.

stalk them & hope they panic & give in

Now breadmakers are a whole different story, worth their weight in gold in my opinion;)I go through phases of using mine but it's probably my favourite kitchen gadget:T

What breadmaker do you have, I've had 3 myself and via friends I have tried 11 different machines and the bread is always "spongy" I was a baker for 14 years and love the kneading/proving/knocking back process of bread making :)
