I have never won anything yet :( so I couldn't say if it has any influence or not whether I opt in or out of marketing, but for what it's worth I nearly always opt in for email newsletters etc but definitely not for telephone marketing.
I am always too scared to tick no because I figured that why would they want to give me the prize if I'm not interested in their product?? However having read a lot of posts on here that people DO win even after opting out, I'm tempted to start doing that myself.
As I said, either way, I've never won a thing so it doesn't seem to make much a difference for me!!
  • Hi

Thought you might be interedted to know that I have entered the Net-A-Porter competition each day and after reading your comment yesterday I decided to try something

I always tick No for marketing but yesterday I ticked the Yes marketing boxes to see what happened - if anything.

To my surprize I had an email back from the Net-A-Porter comp to say that I was no successful on this occassion

Didn't get any such message when I didn't tick the marketing boxes

    Strange - Huh !

Yes, that really is strange. Do they consider acknowledgement to be marketing then? Nice one for thinking of that. I find things like that interesting. Thanks :T

I ticked no for marketing, and got that net-a-porter email too. Same for the DS competition the Times ran the week before.
  • I hardly ever tick for marketing unless I have to in order to enter the comp or on the rare occasion when it has been something I would really be interested in. I still get loads of marketing e-mails/newsletters come through though.

I always say 'YES' to marketing by emails and post - no for SMS text messaging and phone calls. I have had a fab year of wins so 'who knows' if this is way to win more prizes. From the start (2010) I have had a separate email addy it's a hotmail address.
This week I have entered 6 comps that I have received via marketing emails in my inbox. I'll keep you all posted. Good luck luvviees xxx
