  • Hello Ladies

Been a funny old day - weather dreadful - DS2 cleaned all outside windows yesterday so it's his fault:rotfl:

Physio today so my neck and back are nicely de-kinked. I'm not going to spend long on here because I don't want to seize up again.
Tomorrow will definitely start the yoga again so I can build on the physio's good work.

Well - as i anticipated - I got the news from DWP today that I have failed to meet ATOS's requirements for ESA, so that has now ceased. It is exactly what I expected. Fortunately I've only got about 6 weeks now till my pension becomes due, so it's not too bad.

DS2 says I really ought to apply for JSA and make them cough up but frankly I really don't think I can be bothered. For the sake of a approx £67 a week or whatever I feel that I have been humiliated enough and have been made to jump through far too many hoops.

I went to see OH at the nursing home and watched a couple of carers in action. They had not reached him in time for him to pass water and they had to wash and change him.

What can I say - talk about rough handling - you would have thought they were scrubbing a floor the way they washed his nether region. They then attempted to dry him with paper towels.:mad:

Before they could dress him again I double checked - you've guessed it his skin was still wet so I gently patted him dry with a towel. I never said a word but made them watch and wait till I was satisfied he was properly dry.

I wonder if they got the message. I very much doubt it - I shall be speaking to the matron on my next visit. No wonder he is sore and chafed and his pressure sore is not healing.

I know I sound obsessive and sly - but it seems that my impromptu unscheduled visits are proving to be very useful.

More than ever I am resolved to find a way of bringing him home again...I just need to get the house sold and then I can find suitable accommodation and get a care package in place.

Somehow someway I will do it. I will add that to my list of goals.;)

Anyway I can smell my dinner - so I'm off to eat and then have a restful evening and an early night.

Onwards and upwards ladies - let's make this the Christmas that we sparkle and dazzle.

Have been for the mammogram -wasn't too bad a bit uncomfy but nothing too unpleasant and over with in the blink of an eye. Have to wait 3 weeks for the result so fingers crossed everything's ok.

:T:T:T Well done on going for the mammogram! Really glad you did. xxxx

Just had a lovely 2 hours of my own time on the phone to a few sets of parents talking them through the new exam rules. Most parents are lovely and realise that I only want the best for their kids and its not my fault that things have changed - one though was a rude pigheaded git (a man) who actually asked what my qualifications were! I shut him up when I reeled out the A levels, degree, PhD and Masters in teaching! I have lost patience with the world for a moment and will be back when I'm not ready to throttle someone.

    And breathe......

I think you are doing exactly the right thing. If everything is being done as it should be there should be no issue with you coming as and when you like. In your situation I would do the exact same thing.

  • Thanks for the link Evilsuid - a very interesting article and very good advice. I think recharging is definitely something I shall try and do over the next couple of weeks.

After having worked flat out for the last few months my intention is to take a bit of time and space and "heal" - not that I feel ill as such, just very very tired.

What is Clean and Lean - I'm intrigued.

Lizzie - meant to say - so glad you managed the mammogram.

WW - you sound such a dedicated teacher and I'm sure there are many of you - it's such a pity that some parents don't appreciate the effort you put in. They see "school hours" and school hols and just assume you have an easy time. They don't see what goes on behind the scenes.

Thanks for the kind words Rummer - I do sometimes wonder if I fuss and worry about OH too much.:o

    Morning all,

Lizzie - am glad you went for the mammogram in the end, have fun with the yoga x

evilsquid - thanks for the article, very interesting and think there's probably a lot in it, I know I can often start getting ill/rundown if I'm over-doing it :(

LL - think you're doing just the right thing keeping an eye on them, at least you know what's going on and they're more likely to think and put a bit more effort in if they know they're being observed. Sad it has to come to that though when you'd think people in that job could be trusted to do it properly without needing to be stood over.

Sparkles - glad you're having a nice (if breezy!) holiday

Blowing a gale here today as well, pretty miserable. Feeling a little up and down this week, spoke to my mum last night, my grandma's not been very well lately, she's gone downhill very fast in the last few weeks, both mentally and physically. They've been looking at homes for her all week and she's going to go into one for a trial on Wednesday - she was going to have to wait several weeks but she's been in the hospital twice this week already so they bumped her up the list a bit. The fact that she's agreed to try one tells me more then anything that she's really struggling as she's always been very independent and wanted to stay in her own home. At the moment though she's on 5 lots of carers a day, with my mum, dad and aunt there the rest of the time, and she's still having problems when they go home at night, so it does look like she needs to be somewhere with 24hr care. My mum and dad are also worrying as they are meant to be going away in just over 2 weeks, they finally got the go-ahead from my mum's tests and now this has happened so is still up in the air, but my aunt definately can't cope on her own so she's going into the home for a few weeks for 'respite care' until they get back at least and see how she gets on. She is 94 and I suppose that technically she's done amazingly well to stay in her own home on her own until now.

Have choir tonight, going straight from work so busy day. Managed to get my new submission finished last night (at 1am :rotfl:) so editing tomorrow night I think. Decided it was too breezy for a dress today :o but have a nice red top on for a bit of colour.

That's exactly the bit I wanted to highlight too. I think you're just being caring and responsible LL. He's your DH, why wouldn't you??

Stupid to**er! It's just as well you want to do the best for the students, they can't help the parents they've been given. The trouble is that rubbish like the Chief Inspector said at the weekend doesn't help. You should have told him 'Oops it's past 3 o'clock, I shouldn't be working now!' or 'I'm only speaking to you because I need the overtime payments!'. Hope you're feeling better today.

I did go out for my walk yesterday so coming on here to confess did help me!:) I was having a really CBA day but I actually walked to the nearest little shopping centre. I bought some veg for last night's dinner while I was there and talked to a CS who are keen to take a bookcase we're getting rid of. So, a bit of exercise and decluttering all in one. I'm out for lunch today but have got a plan for a walk later.

How was the 'spa' treatment mooloo?

Can't stop to 'talk' to everyone else as have to go and get fabbed for my lunch.;) Back soon.

Hi am just back from my day of fabbing. I feel really relaxed etc. The nails are still abit soft, but I am loving the colour. I ended up coming home in disposable flipflops as I had gone out in a rush and forgotten mine. So my car is parked badly, blocking part of my neighbours drive as an idiot is badly parked outside my house. So got to keep my eye out and go move mine when i can.
DGD will be back soon, and I will dissappear up to my room to continue fabbing myself and think that I will do a bit of a face cleans and moisturise session. Then later on I will probably need to wash my hair. Although I hope to go to her tomorrow, I forgot to book my appointment so will have to see.
Then I will be fabbed from head to toe!
But the cost is eye watering!.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.
