Orange want to charge me for replacement

I know what you are saying about Orange, I may see if a local shop can repair it but, if they want more than about £30.00 then I might as well just buy another, very cheap/rubbish phone on a different contract, just for emergencies until my Orange contract runs out next March.
I thought you could only just afford your current contract?0 -

Less than £30 as kits are £5 so probably £15 repair.0 -
If the keys don't work, it could be the electronic part of the keyboard that's faulty, or the mainboard.

Because you're a warm heated, kind spirited soul?0 -

I'm going to have to borrow money to either get the phone repaired or buy a cheap replacement so, if as you say, a repair will only cost £15.00 then this may well be the better option as the less I have to borrow the better. Thanks.0 -
Did u say u had tried someone else's old phone? If so, it might be worth seeing if u can get another sim...I think they replace those free of charge and then at least u can use your minutes and texts.
If you know someone who has an Orange sim, it might be an idea to see if theirs works in the old phones you have been given. If theirs does and yours doesn't, it does sound like a problem with yours.0 -

Remember it is not me doing the job, so I only guesstimate that it maybe £15, I would re-assess your budgetting though as having to borrow £15 for a repair and running a £10 per month contract, is kinda too tight for comfort, only requires something to fail around the home and you are stumped totally.0 -

I know, it would have been a problem but, luckily, a friend has just lent me another Orange phone and that SIM is working in that one (it wasn't quite as old as the ones I tried earlier and it seems to accept my 3G SIM) so, though I have to pay for a contact where I won't have all the features I am paying for, at least I now have a working phone.
This has really made me think though, I'm certainly not going to renew my contract with Orange next March and I've also learnt there's no point having a 24 month contract with them when they are only interested in replacing a phone that goes wrong/breaks within the first year and you can easily have 12 months paying for a service you can't, reasonably, use.
Thanks to those who have been helpful with my questions.0 -

Highlighted , too many are still into the falseness of what they can afford , small bills are better than large bills, once the hit is taken on a handset, the ongoing costs can be very low.
The only benefit for a contract is that people can have their handset on the never never.......oh and perhaps more airtime on the same £ for £ basis.0 -
