October 2012 Grocery Challenge

Hello all, have failed to keep up with thread but am having a rare day off WOOHOO so thought I would tot everything up. So far for October I've spent £98.75 and have enough in for the weekend so very pleased. Since starting GC in the spring I've grown to hate the supermarkets and their sneaky little ways hence my spending going down and down. Saw 'crumble topping' for sale in Mr M today, blimey even my 9 year old can make that!
Although I have been away from MSE forum I've used the time wisely, made lots of blackberry jam and some fab spiced apple chutney. Will be making more of that for Xmas presents.
Have a lovely day everyone, will now try and read the earlier posts. I'll probably still be sitting here this evening!:)Make £2020 in 2020 £178.81/£2020

Just want to 'record' that i spent zilch yesterday!
Was unhappy about a food order though. Only a few items from my order with foodbargains, were delivered. I now recall why i stopped shopping with approved food and food bargains! Grrrr.
Have emailed them asking where bulk of order is, they respond that maybe, yes, maybe, the rest will turn up today? Not good enouh really, is it?!Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

NSD for me yesterday. Ive had quite a few, but keep forgetting to take note of them!
I have come away for a few days with the little one since its the school holidaysbut I made sure to use up, chop up or cook up everything in the fridge before we came away. Im visiting peeps so free food, free accomodation and even free fuel (He knows Im broke
)
I have a few portions of my cheapest veggie soup in the world, some portions of bottom-of-the-fridge veg curry and some chopped peppers and mushrooms in the freezer for when we get back so should be able to stay spend-free for a little while.
This should all help keep me within budget when I get back
I will have to buy a few bits and bobs for my fab babysitter though, who never takes any money from me, but I do buy her cereal, juice and bits and pieces for both my kid and hers, which seems like the least I can do...but I did find an old £5 Kellogs complimentary voucher which has no expiry date on it! So Ill be able to stock up on cereal for both me and her for free :jSometimes lurking, sometimes posting, but always flying

Oh my days im so late with putting down budget for October cant believe we are now into second week. Here in East yorkshire Hull fair is in full swing and it is a clear indication that winter is on the way. Anyway back to business I am going to try for £200 again this month of which I have already spent £81.00. Iv just gone onto recipe thread and am cooking a sausage casserole in the slow cooker, I have done this once before but ended up with bits of skin from the sausage coming away from the meat so this time I have cut the sausages up, not nice having a mouthful of sausage skin.SPC No. 295 - SPC No10 target £350

I had to get some bits from Mr A today (that I forgot when I was at work last night!)
I was reducing stuff like a mad woman last night at work (MrS) and I couldnt believe it when I reduced a £22.85 joint of beef to £5! Such a shame we cant put things aside or buy them ourselves as this would have dont us for christmas!
RANT! We have one couple that come in and buy everything YS that is there and I overheard them saying get it and if we dont use it we can throw it !!!!!!! Shocked because I know there are loads and loads and loads of people who would have used it and not just bought it for the sake of it. Drives me mental sometimes it really does./Rant over.
I have managed to buy a lot of christmas presents this month as well (different budget) so fingers crossed I wont need to spend too much else.
I didnt realise that Home Bargains online you can bulk buy things. I got some Cadbury selection boxes (x8) for £12 (this works out cheaper than buying them singularly) so thats the nieces and nephews all done in one go! My 2 DDs would like a bike for christmas so not sure about the money stretching that far but will have a look around and see what sort of deals we can get.2 adults and 3 children DD (14), DD (12) & DS (10) :smileyhea and 2 mental beagles.
