GG - Opening up a link to a hairy Robin Williams at breakfast time
lulabelle - thankfully the thought of a chocolate body wrap helped me to ease the memory of the above
NP:DFebruary13 - £74990 (or thereabouts)
MND - Let's go for 2020 'cos it's got a nice ring to it:D

And on the exciting money news front, I have estimated that I am due approximately £95!! from expenses (well £95.03) GG - I know how important those 3p's are to you;)
Forms submitted, however money will go into the Christmas Pot (well maybe £20 of it towards mortgage)

Our Christmas pot is somewhat poorly defined this year - I realised a few months ago that line by line budgeting wasn't nearly as important as just setting the money aside in the first instance. So most of our regular or deferred household expenses go into a savings account called 'Big Pot' :rotfl:0

Yesterday I had a conversation with a few work colleagues regarding making O/Ps on my mortgage. I could tell that they thought I'd lost the plot.....we'll see who's daft, work colleagues, we'll see.......
Cue more evil laughter MWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I am up and about v. v. early this morning, however this is not MSE as heating goes on even earlier as :eek:brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:eek:brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:eek:brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:eek:
PS. I've also not been buying magazines for yonkles so perhaps I am cured of these non-essential purchases - I will wait until end of October though before I make a celebratory MOP:p

I know what you mean about telling other people about OP's, i almost feel like it's my dirty little secret, people react like i'm mad to do it. But when i use the analogy of the credit card and only paying the minimum each month i can see the cogs turning. I think the thing is you have to have balance, and you have to be focused and if you can do those two things then you will win out in the end.
Well done on not buying the magazines, i've never been a fan myself, for me it's about not buying bargains from work, i work in a supermarket so every day i go to work i'm looking in the reduced cabinet, which is great if i actually need bread but not great if i'm buying reduced stuff that has nothing to do with the meal plan that week.0 -

I don't discuss finances with work colleagues because the only topic that vaguely approaches MSE is how to spend less on overpriced tatThe concepts of OPing (or reducing consumption) would probably see me burned at the stake!
We have had the odd conversation about investments, but the folk discussing it are usually older and are usually still running up debts, which seems counter-intuitive.0 -
Hi Natty,
I also had a magazine vice a few years ago...I worked out that I was just buying for the fashion pages so I started just browsing online highstreet shops and found Polyvore... together these have sated my appetite for glossy mags. I now only buy for holidays/long flights.MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0 -
Agree about the OP being a dirty secret, its funny but its like a sneaky habit. Yet colleagues do sell stuff on ebay, suppose just take it to the next level.
I cant understand why anybody wouldnt but know few people who would agree. Just convinced my job share about the benefits of topcashback.
Last time we became MF i never stopped saving, exactly same amount saved each month, only difference was we went on more exciting holidays and had a very comfortable pot of cash (which subsequently used as well as sale of house to buy the next one).Morgage till Nov 30 GOAL MFW Sept 2016Aug 11 - £100k Aug 2016.... It's GONE!!!!!
2014 GOAL HIT 5 Stone! 2016 GOAL to be a MF marathon runner.

Same with me, I dont really talk about my mf plans either... I've mentioned it a few times in the past but have decided its just best kept as a secret quite honestly..... I don't really like talking about money too much with people anyway, people always tend to make incorrect assumptions.
Congrats on kicking the mag habit....0 -
