  • Thanks for your posts guys - finally feel in the land of the living!!

    Yes jox, I have made phonecalls to find out balances and am about to update my signature. Think they will have reduced. I have changed the Barclaycard cc to coop for much better APR for the life of the debt. I am reluctant to try for more credit for 0% deals in case it damages my already worrying credit rating.

    Cheers daisy chain, I am really enjoying making life simpler - getting rid of clutter, not trying to keep up with the Jones,s and not shopping for fun has been very liberating! Yes I have read Francine jays books and website and love her. Also enjoy reading frugal queens blog.

    Lovely to hear from you Scuff - let me knows how you get on with crochetting, my plan is to start making lovely blankets for next years Christmas pressies - prob a bit ambitious!!!,

    Off to add up my balances and update my signature - fingers crossed!!!
  • Yey, have just updated signature- have now paid back £6,513 to debts since August 2012. Hope to make it £10,000 by August- 1year after LBM.

    Thanks everyone for your support.

  • A NSD for us today!

    My plan progressing for debt payments for 2013 - need to check the APR on nationwide cc when 0% ends - then plan to pay it off this year. That will mean at least £400 to nationwide cc, minimum repayment to virgin, then monthly payments to loans hope it will be possible - want to challenge myself to a tough target.

    DHs car to go up for sale again this week - and may reduce asking price for house a little to try to create some interest and viewings.

    Hope to find a few things to list on eBay tomorrow.

    Just keen to keep motivated to reduce the debt for 2013!

    I like a tough target :D Good luck with it!

    You have done brilliantly in what is a short space of time!! Good luck with the car/house sales, I expect the market will pick up a bit now that Christmas is out of the way, fingers crossed!
  • Thanks Ladybird, Fingers crossed for house and car sale.

    Today is DH birthday so I'm afraid I am not being money saving and taking him and DS out for lunch. We havent eaten out for ages and prob wont again til my birthday in June, so I'm going to try not to feel guilty and enjoy it.

    I'm now off to try to keep my resolution of a simpler life by making a huge cuppa, finishing off some Christmas choccies and reading my book while the boys have a lie-in. Not sure if its a simpler or lazier life I am trying to achieve????

    Wish my boys would have a lie in! Children always up well before 7am so DH and I take turns to sleep in on weekend days... today is his turn so I'm up supervising wild sofa leaping wrestling games :rotfl:

    Enjoy your meal, you'll appreciate it all the more given that it is a rare treat :beer:

    Where has this week gone?? Is it just me or is the time flying?? Getting out of bed at 6.30 am each morning seems harder than ever, then the day flies by in no time.

    So I dont feel my life is getting any simpler at the moment- I really am aiming to have a couple of hours each day where I can relax and chill out but its not happening yet.

    On a more positive note, NSDs all week! Will need to buy some milk and bread tomorrow but thats about it.

    Off to look for some recipes on-line for my slow-cooker now

  • Only bought milk and bread in Asd*'s, that would have been impossible to do a few months ago! I still linger over the magazines but realise a)they are expensive, b)the home mags leave me feeling dissatisfied with my home and c) I am meant to be simplifying and reducing the clutter, not buying more! I still cant manage to avoid browsing though.

    Tonight I am planning on making a list of the things I can do to the house to make it more sell-able-
    * repaint our scruffy bedroom
    * touch up paintwork in DS's bedroom
    * re-seal our windows internally
    * re-paint the outside of the house (have avoided this due to the cost of paint, but may help first impressions)
    * re-grout some tiled areas in bathroom
    * ?re-paint garden shed a nice colour

    I know the market may be slow so I would like to improve my chances of selling, none of the about are desperate to be done, in fact the estate agents have said its all great as it is but it will make me feel like I'm doing something useful. Just need to do it very low-cost.
