Getting very disheartened

  • Whenever I see a thread where someone says they are getting end up of not winning, I think that maybe comping isn't for them...
  • Don`t give up, we all started somewhere and probably more slowly than yourself. I agree that autofill is a really speedy way to fill in your entry forms, so have a look in your browser toolbar to start using it if you don`t already. The twitter comps are normally really quick to do. If you`re not also doing any of the magazine prize draw daily entry comps have a go at these too - you will hopefully at least double the amount of entries you currently make a day. Onward and upwards!

I have today received 3 emails all competitions that I had entered all telling me I had not won any. On one they were giving away 800 and I still did not manage to win. I have been entering comps for about 3 months and won a few small things e.g. facewash, Tshirt, drinks bottle, but I hope that I will win one day something worth more that £10.
  • After 3 months comping I had won a Pentel felt tip pen - you`re doing well sam.4000!

Oh dear I am sorry . I do apply for things off the freebies board and love it as you do get things in the post. Today I received a sample bottle of vosine and a decent size.
  • No problem sam.4000 - won quite a few things in the last couple of years. I just meant that your persistence should pay off in the end, just keep going - be lucky!

If you are not enjoying entering for things don't do it.

Comping isn't an easy way to make money especially now with so many new people thinking it is. Luck is only a small part of comping, I often wear the skin off my fingertips from typing and get totally fed up, but I still love comping and the expectation of the next win coming through the letterbox that keeps me going.

I won more last year than this year, I might go back to work next year but would continue to comp as I enjoy it.

Make sure you are enjoying it and diversify your entries over all formats and do local comps, I don't even do chat or Take a break any more , gave them two years and realised the odds are too low comping can be a numbers game afterall, I have won a few smaller prizes from Real people though.
    Wishing you a lucky 2023: 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

I notice you only joined in august. Have you read the comping guide? It explains on there how to set up everything to maximise entering. i.e. already putting name and address in emails etc, setting up autofil etc. Try working your way through comps by clicking "next thread" button or by using firefox and opening lots of tabs by using multilinks (my prefered method) I have just changed laptops and it took ages to get everything properly up and running to be a "comping computer" so to speak! Make sure you enter local ones as these have low entries for instance, I'm off to the theatre tonight courtesy of our local paper and off for a 3 course meal for 4 on Thursday with another local one

If you are only entering "the biggies" then wins will be few and far between. Good Luck and keep at it, you will win something eventually

Its all a numbers game, I think someone on here did the maths and worked out you could expect a win for every 1000 comps entered. There seem to be more people competitioning now than ever before so that number may be more. I win fairly regularly, may not be something big though. Yesterday it was a face cream, today it was two chapsticks. I must enter between here, blogs, twitter and facebook around 150-200 a day and I treat it like a job. That said I enjoy it and always have.

As others have said expect nothing and whatever you win is a bonus. Good Luck.
    Total 2019: £3972 - Best win this year £3000
    2018 total £4062/2017 total £2260/ 2016 total £2025/ 2015 total £3809.

Comping for 3 years...won once...and I can't even take the prize as they've changed the conditions of the prize (Travel, hotel, food and drinks were to be paid for, however that has since been rescinded, and I cannot afford to go, nor pass on the win to someone else). Its sods law but keep your chin up :)
