Getting very disheartened

Hello all. I have been comping full time for three solid months now and have yet to win anything at all even a bar of chocolate. I am getting very disheartened and trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong:( What does everyone do when they have dry spells and what am I doing wrong. It's hard not to give up. All the best of luck to everyone

LOL...I know exactly how you feel. It gets disheartening when you get that little feeling of excitement before you check your emails, phone and the post and then feel disappointed when there's nothing there, especially when you hear of people after a week of so winning lots.

I've even been considering changing my email to see if my luck would change, thats how bad I've got:rotfl:

I haven't won a sausage and like you I have been doing comps solidly for well over a month, avg min 100 a day using fb, twitter (though I haven't really a clue how that works so I could have won and not known it!), blogs, etc.

Following a tip on here I also set up a google alert for my name for comps where they don't contact you by em, text etc.

I use RoboForm and that has made life a whole lot easier and would recommend it to you if you are not using something similar already.

Must admit I don't tend to enter a lot of mother and baby ones as I feel guilty entering those as I don't have children and feel the prize should go to someone worthier. Also I don't enter comps just for the sake of it, I look at the prizes to see if they can be useful to me, family, friends, christmas/birthday presents etc.

My main problem is my hub who complains it takes up too much of my time and I will never win anything. I would love to win something just to prove him wrong..lol.

In the end I try to stay positive as its fun doing the comps and know one day I will win something and no matter how small it is the thrill of it will make these 'dark days' all worthwhile :).

Many thanks to all who post comps and answers, I appreciate it so much.

Hope everyone out there who is in the same boat wins something soon ... xxx
Growing old is unavoidable. However, growing up is still optional.
  • Enter more for little things with many winners. Like the purple cat that nearly everyone got, or the weetabix tin or even a pen. Then keep it where you enter comps as a good luck mascot and as a reminder that you CAN win.

I find most of my wins are from comps where 10, 50 or 100 people get a prize so watch out for comps with runner up prizes you'd like.

    Keep trying and good luck!

May you all have lots of luck, Emma xx

All I can say to you is this OP. It doesn't matter how many you have a go at, one day you will win something really good and special.
I don't enter 100+ a day, I don't even enter 30 a day - except maybe at Christmas when the advent calenders come up . Maybe more like 10-20 (if that) and I've had some cracking wins (all listed in my sig)
Now, it does get a bit disheartening if you don't win at times (especially when you look on Facebook and the same peeps keep winning, but TBF, some of those folks enter every single comp out there so the odds are better for them). You just have to keep saying to yourself that your time will come, and it'll be a brill win you do win. Don't forget to tell us when it happens though ;)

Sending out lucky cake crumbs to everybody :bdaycake::bdaycake: as MSE Forums don't have a lucky dust icon :rotfl:

Try not to worry too much. I would agree with everything that everybody ahs said regarding roboform, using FB, Twitter etc.

I think it's swings and roundabouts with comps. I started last August and by Christmas the prizes had started to roll in and they were really good one's like laptop etc

I enter about 50 a day but sometimes less if I am busy or more if I have some spare time. Use roboform as it saves loads of times and twitter is a quick entry as well.

Haven't won anything since June but having said that did really well before then so not complaining. Always thought it might be my name giving me some luck as it was such an unusual one!:)

Fingers crossed that a lucky win will come your way.
:grouphug::lovethoug:lovethoug Keeping busy very important at the moment. Lost my loving partner this year. Always in my thoughts.
  • I've been comping about the same amount of time and had the exact same feelings as you, but I won my first thing, a book, this week. It's given me a new enjoyment. You can't and won't win every time. But you will eventually, just keep persevering. :)
    2013 wins:
    A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z.
A = Autobiography of Louis Saha
    Q = Year subscription to Q magazine
  • Know the feeling, been doing it for 6 weeks and won sod all. I got an email saying, 're the Tesco competition you entered'. Opened the email and it said, 'unfortunately you have not won', that is just cruel. Almost like the lottery email you get, 'news about your ticket', heart pounds, slight stomach turning over only to find I have won £2.40 but spent 10. Moan over now for my win :-D
    2012 wins, £200, 2 x Alicia keys tickets, a t' shirt and a pencil case.
2013 wins. A cupcake maker £20:j Ambre Solaire kids suncream (£9.99)
June win: Family stay at Legoland Windsor (over £1000 worth):j:j:j:j:j:j
  • I've been comping for about 3 months now and I've won a bean (my 1st and only win so far, still praying for an ipad) But I have been wondering for facebook comps where you have to like and share, does it help if you comment on the share? as I never know what to put, any ideas?

Some folks put "liked & shared" on in the comments box after they have, liked & shared. TBH I don't (or like to) think it makes much difference, although for some reason I don't like comments like "Thankyou for a lovely competition & prize, blah, blah, blah"
If a comp says "like & share" to enter, that's all I do, BUT make sure you set the little arrow in the top right of the share box to "public" that way the people holding the comp know that you have done what they asked - it doesn't show up apparently if you have the setting to "friends" IYSWIM?
    HTH ;)

Not being funny, but your post just annoys me!

I have been comping for years and years, and don't win very much. In fact I haven't won anything for a while and I enter hundreds a day. Certainly don't win the big prizes, that a lot of people win on here. You have only been doing it since August, imagine how people like me feel!
No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T

This was also my problem, he moaned all the time when i got the kids in bed and sat down to enter comps. Until i phoned him at work and told him we were off to Jamiaca, now if i have a night off hes asking why im not entering...........lol.

Good luck i hope you get a win soon.
I enter them by end date and had some good wins doing it this way, so i enter the ones that are ending tomorrow that way i am not waiting long for a win and i know im not missing any either. x
