  • I have been with Churchills for 9 years, and when phoning round each year have found them to be competitive. However, after using confused.com I had a quote from several companies that were far less. Churchills refused to price match, and so have lost my business. Thanky MSE for saving me over £100 this year.

LOL you wouldnt say that if someone crashed into your motor.;) Mind you, i think MrJudi would agree with you on that point. For the 20 years he has been driving hes only claimed once and that was because someone broke into and damaged our car. I do think they ought to offer more than a 70% no claims discount though.

I normally use confused.com for cheaptest quote.
  • The renewal quote for our MR2 was £560.00 from Liverpool Victoria, by using Martin's motor insurance search engine the cheapest quote we were given was £240.00.

    Thank you Martin.

my car insurance is through nationwide buiding society. I got my renewal though and had a look round, tesco was about 60quid cheaper.

I rung my existing insurer and asked if they could lower the premium and got put through to the retentions dept, they said the best they could do was knock 10% off. So i saved 50quid and my existing cover is better than tescos too.

Also lots of insurers seem to be removing or limiting "the driving of other cars 3rd party cover extension", I noticed tesco policy was limited to only in an emergency......... but its still on my nationwide/churchill policy.

I have had a great deal of success getting insurance companies to price match cheaper quotes.

I got car insurance while on a provisional license -my insurance expires in jan 07.

Now i have had a full license since march 06... and would have been driving my car for a year with no claims. Had a quick look around the net the other night and the quotes for 3rd party F&T were nearly identical t when i was on a provisional license with no experience!

I thought i had searched around loads till i saw this thread!hopefully i will be able to save lots more next year! (i saved over by shopping round last year) putting my hubby on my insurance reduced it by £2 for the year! lol!! but at least he can drive my car in an emergency and all the £2 savings add up!
Debt free May 2016 (without the support of MSE forum users that would never have been possible - thank you all)

£59 saved using the help from Martins site on my car insurance.

    They wanted £391
    I paid £332

I was with Norwich Union but Confused came up with RAC. So I filled in the details .......and then the computer went doolaly their end!!
I phoned up RAC and it worked out even cheaper than Confused in the end.

They applied the online discount and then as I was already insured with NU for the car and the scooter and we have RAC road cover we had more discounts. (RAC and NU being together now)

Same things covered as before except with Double the Legal cover and added Physio cover.

So all is well thanks to all the help given on here!

A few years ago we found out it would have been cheaper for me to insure our car on a provisional license with him as a 'named driver' than it would have been for MrJudi to insure it himself with 70% no claims discount.
