They can't intervene, no. And they have no input to decide the rights and wrongs of who owes what in this sort of case. But they should take you seriously if you feel threatened like this.
I fail to see what you owning a company would have to do with anything here...
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.
  • Naf, They wouldn't even listen they said because its to do with Money & the fact i techinally own a company and the fact even though i said my life was in danger they can't do anything till they actually put there hands on me
You need to decouple the dispute about the money thing, with the consideration that you may be being harrassed, and that violence may be being hinted, implied, or suggested.

Don't let them off the hook, if somebody in the police that you speak to is fobbing you off, don't stand for it - go higher up the food chain until somebody listens. If it's a problem, hassle them until they decide that they need to do something about the root cause.

    Quite - in total agreement.

Sometimes people get fobbed off by the police - sometimes they don't help themselves, though, by trying to get the police involved to arbitrate something like this, where they have no interest in getting involved.

Decouple all of that and over-egg feeling threatened, intimidated, and harrassed, and simply state it's threatening behaviour you want them to deal with, not the dispute over money.

Was there an actual fare, did someone get in the Cab and go on the journey from outside your house or did the taxi just turn up and drive away when nobody came out of the house.
If it was the first it's the drivers fault for picking up a stranger on the street.
If it was the second the most they could claim was a call out charge.

According to the taxi company, someone actually got in the cab and said they were me, and then the taxi drove off; they said the taxi driver didn't speak much english and he didn't know much about the journey, and the person in the back slept the whole way!

I take it your comment about 'owning a company' was a slip, and you meant 'owing a company'???
4am or not, passenger sleeping or not, surely the driver will be able to recognise the person who got in and out of his taxi after a journey that took that long?
I would ring the taxi firm and ask the owner to bring the driver with him, but have a few friends with you and see if he can pick you out.

Not sure what the taxi owners name is, but if you know it when he turns up you could pretend to answer the phone and then say.

    "Taxi for X"

Unfortunately you would be reliant on the honesty of the driver, my guess is that the driver would just identify the OP as the person who got in the car, true or not, bear in mind the taxi company want paying for an expensive fare and the driver would be in trouble and most likely loose his job if he said anything which would prevent that money being paid, this doesn't sound like a premium taxi company, any proper legit firm would not hire drivers that don't speak good English.
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world
