    Hi

Has anyone had any problems getting paid off these guys?

It's been over 4 weeks and I now can't contact them?
  • I reckon that they take a picture from the CCTV and print it out. There is one store near me that I haven't mystery shopped for at least 5 years. I don't go there all that often, yet as soon as I'm spotted, usually when in the queue, they go bonkers and give a full floor show.

I remember another mystery shopper who noticed that her car registration was on display near to the drive thru window.

    Its all a game!

Its a game all right I'm new to mystery shopping and have had a right carry on with that burger place checking cctv back and looking for any errors they can so that my shop gets rejected. Silly thing is all I said was that the floors are dirty which they were. I just dont get why they can't take the criticism constructively and clean floors rather than pick on me. I tasted the burger 30 seconds longer than I should and they are arguing over my timings being too fast. They were accurate as I used my iphone. I just don't get it so I'm not doing any more of them. Works out a very poor wage anyway. Loving mystery shopping though with other companies.
  • I've never had a problem with Gap before to be honest, but they just cancelled a job I'd completed after I didn't reply to an email asking for timing confirmation within 12 hours. This is despite them sending it at 3 in the morning on Sunday.

Ah well, it had to happen eventually.

Basically, it's the client's silly little teenage managers trying to stop you doing them out of their bonus. Treat GAP as a training exercise, if you can put up with them, you can do anything you'll ever need to do in terms of report based shopping.

If you don't get sacked by them and they don't get sacked by you, continue to use them for free lunches while you're doing more important stuff and milking premiums off them, and don't lose sleep over them.

You work for yourself, Mystery Shopping companies make offers of work available, if it's in your interests do it, if it's not, no one says you have to work for them.
Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?
  • That is the beauty of it - you can pick and choose. I'm just trying to find the right balance at the moment. I love the one with the 'naked name' however they dont have much on this week in my area

I've found GAP really good and they do make up quite a large chunk of my monthly premiums; easy to do and easy reports to complete. Lately though, all my timings have been questioned, even when they're very good for the restaurant, and one alleged comment by a manager. I just answer their e-mails and confirm my timings.

I'm happy to work for them for as long as I can, they call me and I accept the jobs and the higher premiums, it's a win win :)
  • I see it must be the norm then to question aspects of the shop. I was starting to think it was just me. I guess if there is nothing wrong with how you do your assignment, which is not hard, then it is just a case of emailing them back and confirming details. I was thinking that there would be no way I could go back to the same shop as the staff do seem to know. One time I had the manager come over and ask me if I was enjoying my meal. funny thing is I do take my kids all the time and obviously didnt this time because you cant. I thought they seem to recognise you as a mshopper because you are alone - when you look around most ppl are with others or have kids with them. I understand the point behind not taking kids however they would make a really good disguise and it is more than possible to obtain all of the facts without having to concentrate too hard.

I've not had any of my GAP timings questioned yet.

<waits for the phone to ring...>

Are they usually too fast or too slow when they ring?
  • too fast in my case - however after replaying the scenario with my partner the timings were actually perfectly feasible. strange. I was asked to describe myself so they could check it was me on the cctv. At this point I am thinking £4 payment - really :) I was quite flattered that they thought I was in my mid twenties when I am actually 37 so every cloud has a silver lining. It is the first time I had had to report something negative and their gunning for me now :(

I've had my timings questioned for being both too fast and too slow :o
