I guess I've been lucky so far and I don't think the timings haven't been that far out.

I think I'd done 6 or 7 visits before my timings started getting questioned, and some of those previous visits had very slow times.

Having a massive senior moment, please can someone advise.

Did a shoe shop for RM today where I had to send the shoes back to them. They gave me a FREEPOST address to send it to but it had to be sent recorded. I told the woman at the post office that I wanted to send it recorded. After weighing it, she told me it would cost £10.50 and that it would be cheaper for me to send it via special delivery which would cost £11. I specifically made a point of showing her the FREEPOST label so whether she advised me incorrectly, I am not sure of. Have I made a massive booboo or have prices for sending something large recorded really gone up by that much? I am sure it was just £1.50 or something like that last time.

Thanks to anyone who may be able to assist.

Mimi, freepost addresses don't count if you're told to send it recorded delivery. And recorded delivery has gone through the roof in the last two weeks - I was charged an absolute fortune to post a birthday present to my nephew last week and I clearly should have sent a gift card instead (he could have had twice as much instead of royal mail having the same kind of amount off me). Unfortunately, it was probably correct, although I'm intrigued that special delivery was cheaper, as it's faster...hmmm...

Oh you are a live saver Skinsocks. I know all the prices recently changed but even I was shocked. What the woman said to me was "You can send it 1st class recorded for £10.50 or special delivery where it is definitely guaranteed etc for £11". One shall see what happens. But thanks again for your reply.

prices have gone up a huge amount (150%ish) and there are now three sizes

    small medium and large
for anything bigger than small and not too heavy, you are better using myhermes as it has rates from £3, medium has a minimum of £5.20 with RM

My local post office master said this week that people are shouting at him because of the increased prices. I do wonder how non-business ebayers are doing, as it can't be worth selling things anymore. Thanks for posting info for mimi, whitelabel - I didn't do it, as I was eating a creme egg whilst debating the fact that my thesis is rubbish, tbh :)

GFK are verging into Mfers territory with low fees for their two wheeled assignments taking off the required purchase, the amount of info required and likely length of interaction!

I've stopped selling stuff on ebay now as I put something on the other week which was really light but was quite bulky and the post office wanted to charge me a fortune. Its definitely going to hit ebays profits now as buyers aren't going to want to pay the postage. Its just not worth it.

Couldn't agree with you more. I bought a load of old stock and was selling it quite well on E-bay. Next thing I knew, PO had upped their postage fees and I was just breaking even with every sale. Have stopped selling on E-bay now :(
