Thanks all for your info regarding bringing the phone back from Florida - the risk of having to pay the tax, coupled with potential LTE issues are making me seriously reconsider this now.

To be honest, I don't even want the damn new iPhone. The S3 is so much more appealing right now, but I just know if I go that route, and miss out on the app store etc I'll end up regretting it.

Not even original anymore! Getting their inspiration from Dr Who.

    Whats next iCybermen?
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • I'm a tiny bit tempted by the S3 but the size of it... it just won't work in my puny hands! I will be honest, I'll be getting one of these. But I'm just not in such a rush anymore.
Also I'll be sticking wth O2, not too fussed about 4G at the moment, but I read something on the O2 forums saying that this phone will not work on O2's 4G frequency (or rather, the frequency they will be bidding for). Gah.

You might be an Android Fanboy but for many others Apple might be the right product and the adaptor may not be a big thing.

Most hotels and car manufactures have an apple connector built in for charge and sound system. Not for Android due to too many connectors. Most places and cars will start to offer adaptors from old to new. A few big hotels have already confirmed that.

Within days the 3rd will also start to sell adaptors cheaper.

When Samsung and HTC changed the cables no adapters were offered so no point in trying to make it ound as what apple is doing is wrong and others will never do that. Many Samsung phones have used its own cable as well as micro USB.

I'm no fanboy, I give custom to the best option (I'll never after 3 buy Vauxhall again, they dont know how to fix their own cars!), Apple has refused to move to the GSM standard of micro usb everyone lese has adopted, that in itself shows the Apple way.
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

For me I would like to have seen a different design instead of a reshaped iphone 4. Yes... it's a classic phone shape now... but with all those overpriced designers Apple have, surely they could have come up with something new? Personally i still love the curvy back of the 3GS. The 4 and 5 just look boring and dull to me in comparison.

I agree, the 4 shape was never beautiful like before, some very sexy photoshopped 5 pics were surfacing for a year & its a pity Apple took no notice of them, I hope 6 becomes as sexy and specwise as 4 should have been.

Manufacturers influence each other but Apple failed to do that for over 3 years, instead spending millions on lawyers and case when research & development could have used that cash wiser !.

    Could they, though?

I'm no expert, but I don't get the impression Apple R&D, as such, have ever had a whole lot to do with any of Apple's most successful products - they find technologies that other companies have spent time developing, then repackage them in a nicer way.

(I'm not meaning that they copy other people's phones, etc...it's not a rant, it's just the way they've always worked...all of the tech for the original iPod was all out there already...they just put it into a prettier box and gave it a better name...)

When you think about it in those terms, you remember something people seem to have forgotten lately - Apple have always been behind the times. The original iPod was technically inferior to MANY other MP3 players on the market, but usability and branding won out. I can't think of a single iPhone launch where I've ever thought "wow, that's really groundbreaking stuff" (I think the iPod touch and some of their nano ranges have been much more impressive) - the iPod's always prospered on branding and polish...they're just starting to struggle now, because the branding and polish of the competition are catching up rapidly - and the competition are innovating, too.
