There's nothing much wrong with the advert or the price where current market values are concerned, it's just that there are hundreds of them and yours doesn't really stand out. 1.8 diesels seem to be a more popular choice at the moment as well.

Maybe you could try selling it as an auction with a lower start price (say £6000), but a reserve nearer your selling price. That way at least some people might actually get interested over and above the others out there.

Once they start bidding, then maybe they'll stay with your car rather than moving to look at another.

Frankly, while its a nice car, with so much choice around and it having a spanish gearbox, cloth interior and "small" alloys your pitching it against higher spec cars at that price. Coupled to that the £5k-£15k "cash" personal market is all but gone and people are, if they have the credit history, signing up on finance at dealers for this type of stuff.
    Hope you get it away.

It may be the cheapest but if others are over priced it makes no difference.

What counts is what similar cars actually sell for. This car has more miles - 80k but sold for £6K

    Could be the spec......

BMW aren't worth sh*t if not fully loaded, very hard to sell.

Agree. Secondhand BMWs can be spec sensitive if they don't have leather and large bling bling alloys.
    The man without a signature.
  • Its too expensive, that's a 5 year old car and you are wanting over 9k for it. I certainly would not be interested at that price.

Even BMW themselves have a couple of similar 2007 cars at under £10k - one with leather and plenty of extras.

Given that with them I'd get service, warranty, breakdown etc etc then you're at least £2k overpriced IMHO

What does Glass's give the values as?
  • Over priced, no internal pics, not enough spec details, minimal gadgetary listing, nothing mentiond about current state of repair, no mention of cambelt / chain etc.

To put it bluntly, the description is somewhat vague. You're trying to sell the car right? So SELL it then. Nothing in your wording would make me jump up and down screaming I want THAT car. To me it's just another average car, I've wasted time looking at it, whats next on the auction list?

    Hope that helps

Actually jaydeeuk1, there are 29 within 60 miles of where we live of similar models/age/mileage.

I do not expect anyone from the other side of the UK would be interested in buying my car when they can buy one closer to where they live.

.... and therein lies your problem.

People now check nationally for car prices. If they find one significantly cheaper than yours at the other side of the country they tend to either

    (a) go and buy it
    (b) not go and buy it but not buy yours because they know they can get one cheaper elsewhere.

I'm up against that every day as a motor trader. I have to price my cars in the lowest 10% 'nationally' otherwise the phone wont even ring, let alone get viewers out.

Also, with respect, your car is nice but its fairly low spec. No leather, the smallest alloy wheels, and not too many toys. So for it to sell you're going to have to sharpen your pencil RE: the price.

I would say you're an easy £1,500 over priced.
