  • Ask me anything about toilet seats.... I am now an expert.
We had a lovely marble top toilet basin combo and the toilet seat broke. But hey, let's not just get a new seat as its a special seat. Have googled, searched, been to wilkos, b and q etc but no, my seat is a sliding on thing, went back to original shop on Tuesday, but guess what... they are shut Tuesday, has now been at least a month, so trekked back out there today. Apparently they do loads of foreign lines and they continuously discontinue. So options were take the toilet apart with the aid of a plumber, no other options I ask? What about taking the plastic sliding thing off and having a top loader (see I know all the technical stuff) ok I say, literally tried to match my toilet seat with many seats but mines smaller (it's special... I can't remember thinking I wanted s special toilet) so the whole range of toilet seats they have are either not top loadable or too long/wide/heavy... anyway he says have you tried b and q.... and breathe..I had literally been there just over an hour. So b and q, measuring my lid then looking for top loaders, found the only top loader they do (I ended up asking a nice man called tony) and ok size wise. Slight intake at £40 but at this stage tbh I'd have paid anything... home and insisted fitted immediately, fortunately I know exactly how to fit in as I'm like toilet seat expert. I have a toilet seat!!!!

It's our ensuite, so unfortunately for me, Dave seemed to be unconcerned how long it was left, whereas it was driving me mad. Knew I'd have to self sort or wait a longgggg time. Never realised that toilet seats were so complex....
Time for one of my fave jokes,
Why was tigger staring in the toilet?
    He was looking for pooh.

    Another toilet pun
I don't call my toilet the John, I call it the Jim. It sounds better when I say I go to the Jim every morning...

    LOL and ROFL
  • You're not the only ones with a weird shaped loo! OH's parents ended up having to get a new loo (and bathroom, you know how easy it is to get carried away....) because there didn't seem to be a seat in the world to fit!! Very pleased yours was a cheaper solution, if a little long winded....

  • The guy was recommending getting a plumber to pull out the toilet to put a heavier lid on... I was thinking plumber time and sheer energy.. felt like I was the plumber.. so can we do this? Sort of questions. Jeez.

Must say that my toilet seat is so much more luxurious than our old one and its soft close...

My 2 year mfw thread-a-versary tomorrow. Wow, just flies. Originally wanted to pay off by Sept 2017 (rather than its destined 2030) but now definitely on track for Sept 2016, now under 32k. I can almost taste freedom. 60k down from then, wow, it's quite amazing, although some of that was cashing in my endowments.
