Can't believe how many people would seriously wear the dress then try and take it back

Guess I'm just too soft (or honest!).....definitely think if you wear it, even once, you've got to pay for it.......

    Remember the MoneySaving mantras!

    IF YOU'RE SKINT......
Do I need it? Can I afford it? Can I find it cheaper anywhere else?

    IF YOU'RE NOT SKINT......
Will I use it? Is it worth it? Can I find it cheaper anywhere else?

If Rachel was only going to wear it once, Rachel shouldn't have bought it in the first place!!

I wouldn't return it, I would flog it on e bay, and remember to think with my purse and not my heart in future.

    how sad :(

For all of those advocating returning it.... would it be acceptable to you if you were running your own clothes shop backed by your own money and hardwork. Would you smile to Rachel and say "of course I will give you your money back even though you've worn it. I am happy to do it and would be happy to offer every customer this service".

    You wouldn't.

At best Rachels behaviour is unethical. At worst criminal (obtaining money (the refund) by deception (ie telling the store the dress is unworn)).

    Next weeks dilemma:
"Tina has to drive 150 miles to visit her sick mother. She has very little money. Should she fill up her car and drive off without paying?".
  • If she is buying the dress with the sole reason of returning it then this is an abuse of the stores return policy and is unethical.

Regardless of her financial situation she shouldn't buy something she can't afford - thats not moneysaving.

Were she to stain or damage the dress she wouldn't be able to return it.

Shame on all of you who said unpick a seam etc... Thats just bad form.

How would you all feel if you owned a shop and she did that to you? Can't see you enjoying that one so much.

    Just my tuppence ;-)

I would love to know Martin's opinion on this one. Martin, is this the sort of behaviour you would want your website to condone? Is this "consumer revenge" as you intended it?

I really do hope it's not.

I think that a Criminal Conviction for deception could end up costing her a lot more than the dress did! As the oldies say she has made her bed and now she has to lie in it.
  • I'm absolutely disgusted by peoples attitudes these days. They seem to think they can rip others off and it's alright to do so. Well it isn't! Rachel bought it. Rachel keeps it! Sell it if you want, or give it away, or burn it, or eat the damn thing. But to lie and cheat and return it knowing that some other girl looking for the perfect NEW dress will buy your second-hand cast off is absolutely beneath humanity. I really hope someone does something like this to Rachel one day and I hope it hurts. She is the pits!

No, that's disgusting. It's not just morally wrong, it's illegal.

I work in retail, and trust me we always know and if people continue to take the mickey like they have been then shops will start lowering/removing their refund policies.
