Strange question - what would you want if your daughter was hurt and potentially seriously?

But she wasn't hurt seriously so I don't see the point of your question?

I know there is a running joke on the forums of "what about the children??!?", and usually the jokes are justified, however as a parent it is important to ensure your child is safe, and in this instance a genuine concern for safety from a customer has been brushed off by the employee.

I know if one of my sons had been hurt (even if just a graze) i would be angry and want somebody to look into the reason why it fell. You never know it could be a dodgy bracket holding the bag, but without further investigation nobody will know until it falls again.
  • I would be very annoyed if this happened to my young daughter or son. Whilst lightly mocking posts about compo are sometimes deserved on this forum, not in this case IMO.

The minimum the staff should do is to get the manager to apologise, but more importantly they should figure out what caused the accident, so that they can ensure it does not happen again.

    Gravity?

Sometimes things just fall from hangers in shops, no real mystery about it.
  • You could contact Environmental Health at the local council for the area the shop is in and explain your concerns.
  • I hope your little girl is ok now. I doubt you will get anywhere complaining to a shop like sports direct. It is a pile them high, sell them cheap operation. I have only been in one of these stores once, and left right away. It was like a jumble sale and you could hardly move for the clutter. They must be trying to squeeze in even more tat by hanging it from the ceiling. Vote with your feet and don't shop there again.

Indeed it could be gravity, but without even looking how could the shop know?

But i have to question whether a bag should be suspended from the ceiling if it is not secure?

Quite right, it could have been suction.

Well it was gravity - everything that falls is ultimately due to gravity.

Yep... that was a pretty dumb comment from me!
