Did I post the link about trigger stacking here or was that another thread?

Can explain why a dog can seem fine around certain things then seem to react in a really over the top way to the same kind of thing they were fine with before.

And again with the confidence thing. Casper is pretty quiet at the vet even with other dogs in the waiting room - unless I have Kiki with me, and then he must feel a lot more confident to react.

Thanks - lots of reading for me for the weekend...
  • Can someone please let me know where (online) can I get a black muzzle?

    Thanks a lot

Thanks Caroline - is it the one you are using for Zara's twin?

    Just wonder about correct size...

Maybe they've stopped doing the black ones over here - or maybe it was dark brown I'm thinking of, but can't see them any more either. Found these, American link, but a few people on another forum got these ones

Apparently the sizes come up the same as the Baskerville - I'll check what size Casper has in a bit (his is in the back of the car at the minute) and post when I get to work.
The bonus with the Baskerville style is that, as someone else said earlier I think, you can cut one or two of the front bars off and feed treats through the front of it much more easily, without it really affecting the structure.

Another trick for giving a dog treats through a muzzle is carrying a tube of squeezy cheese, e.g. Primula - you can stick the nozzle through the bars and give a little squirt of cheese as a reward.

Edit: Casper takes a size 9 in Baskerville - he's right at the end of it with the noseguard removed so I'd say either an 8 (noseguard removed) or 9 (noseguard in) would probably fit Zara

Absolutely you have to muzzle your dog. It is not fair on other dogs or their walkers who will be very traumatised.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

It is not fair for other owners to allow their out of controll dogs with no recall to run loose and run up to my dog that is on a lead and to traumatise MY dog.

Thanks a lot for that. Will order one when I get paid.

Still, got places here that I can go with Zara off lead no muzzle as nobody ever there so she can play her chase the ball.... When her 2 weeks of "on lead, 30 min" limit is over.

I hope this will help as if not - will need more Xrays. When she had her leg op, I was told her Xrays shown some damage to her spinal cord (just before the tail starts), something that is quite common to GS. Perhaps this is what is causing the limping now, real worry...as then she would need surgery on the other leg AND her back :(

I fully agree with you there but that is one of the perks of a muzzle, makes people think twice. Well, most people, you still get the odd idiot (like the couple who thought that out of all the miles and miles of empty beach available to them, it was a much better idea to head over with their dog to the 4 people who had 3 large dogs on-lead, 2 with muzzles on, trying to avoid everyone else by walking right along the edge of the sea...)
