Hi - some of you may recognize my username and will know that I have posted over the years on the various MSE Slimming World threads.
I rejoined SW earlier this year after struggling to get back into target range. I thought a new start would be the kick up the proverbial that I would need.
Despite this, I still can't recapture the enthusiasm for SW I once had and I currently weigh several pounds above my starting weight. If there was an award for gaining weight with Slimming World, I would win it!
I am at my heaviest since I joined SW(I know it will be another gain this week) yet this sobering thought doesn't seem to register with me.
I'm not keen to join a competitor (i.e WW) and although I buy the Rosemary C diet and fitness mags - attending a class doens't appeal - in fact I don't think there is one near me.
So this brings me to my question.
Do I give up with SW and have a complete break or do I rejoin this week, accept whatever I weigh as my new starting weight and begin again. I know i don't want to continue with my existing membership because being above my start weight is just so disheartening.
So its either chuck in the towel or start afresh.
I'm going to post this now as it has taken me all morning and many re-drafts to write and I just want to get it posted. So any questions or comments please ask!
Thanks all :T
Anything that disheartens you - get rid of it.....What a fantastic idea to ditch the old membership and start a fresh.....it's like having a spring clean....get rid of the old and freshens everything up a bit....
Don't know if you're maybe a bit bored using the same recipies all the time?
Just a wee suggestion.....this time doing SW, I have 2 small A5 size folders and every time I read a new recipie I like or the magazine comes out - I tear it apart and put it into a section in my folders so that I have motivation to hand without having to think too much about....What will I make to eat now..... It just keeps things fresh and exciting and motivates you to keep making new meals....
I LOVE food and my hubby says I'm obsessed by it....I talk about it all the time (lol)....but, I'm the one who's losing weight...
Anyway, good luck...You KNOW you can do it....you've started and that's the first big step to Success.....xSaved £££'s using coupons/discount codes/cashbacksDone the Edinburgh Moonwalk 2010(yeh !)Signed up to do....Woman's 10K Glasgow runGreat Scottish Run and St Andrew's Hospice 6K run and Midnight walk (13 mile):A:kisses2:0 -

Why chuck good money after bad? The real problem is overeating. Confront the emotional issues that make you do this and then try and cut out the high carb foods especially supermarket foods with added sugar or sweeteners. Avoid "light" versions of real food.Who I am is not important. What I do is.0 -

I believe your head has to be in the right place to make it work - make any change work. Even if you get a new book, you will still KNOW it's not worked before. Paying nearly £5 a week isn't enough to make it work.
But thats just me.
Do me a favour FE. Ignore the thread, ignore our advice, the consultant's voice too. In fairness they are there to keep you turning up.
Get a piece of paper and list the reasons for going, the reasons for not going.
No one but you will see that paper, will know your answers.
Sleep on it, your answer will be much clearer than.

Hello FE!! nice to see you back!
when i went back i went to a new group and pretended i hadn't done it all before until my advice became so obviously from an old hand. i just didn't want to be judged as "the one who put it back on"
you have to be going back for you and tbh, i think eating habits do change over time. why is SW not working exactly for you now? is it that you don't like planning, its too expensive, you feel "bored" with it? you need to know the real reason otherwise it wont work this time either.Skintslimmer wrote: »Hi Flat EricI've been there and done that a few times, and have yet to find the answer I'm afraid.
I have gone to WW instead, I tried calorie counting, paleo with some (the most) success, I have rejoined SW countless times, and I think the thing is, I have never really found my motivation properly. I feel a bit of a fraud because I want to eat in a way that encompasses paleo AND SW, and so I won't be doing things like using fry light or artificial sweeteners or eating grains and will potentially be using more fat than SW really would like me to (but attempting to stay within syns to boot
) I think this time I need to keep on going to class come what may.
i do this too, SS and i also feel a fraud. my eating habits have changed since the last time i did SW and foods i loved then taste foul to me now. i don't do fry light or sweetners any more either, at least i know what olive or coconut oil actually is and sweetners are just far too sweet for me now.0 -

I definitely remember you FE. I think you're so kind and helpful on the thread (but if you don't mind me saying:o) you seem to find it hard follow it through yourself. You know all about the planning but then you go to work and buy stuff from shops for breakfast or lunch and it all goes pear shaped.
I'm sure SW (or any diet) is a bit like the LBM people talk about on the DFW boards. For me, that came when I realised I either had to lose weight or buy the next dress size up which to me seemed ENORMOUS (I'd already gone up 2/3 sizes). I let it nag at me for a few weeks then decided I had to do something about it. Maybe you're getting there now?
I've been eating a bit flexi for a few days as I've been away at a wedding. Good SW food for dinner tonight so I'm back on the wagon.0 -

I'm the same as FE... I guess I have flickering LBMs. I really want to lose the weight as I feel so rubbish about myself, but I still can't resist the things that aren't in keeping with SW.Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16Became homeowners 26.02.16

I'm reading thru this thread, thinking about joining SW and this thread too and I burst out laughing at this! I am so pleased you chose a dead lamb! :rotfl:
Anyhoo, back to the posts x0 -
Well, everyone on here (with the exception of the troll in the dungeon!) seems lovely and so enthusiastic about SW. I joined years ago, I think maybe 16 years ago? and I remember getting to eat tons of food and still losing weight. A friend of mine is doing really well on it and when she rattled off when she had for breakfast one morning, I was amazed!
I lost 2.5 stone on WW three or so years ago and have put back on 1.5 of them. It's getting to the stage when my new fat clothes are getting too small and I refuse to go up a size! I've tried WW again but I've lost my mojoso I think I'd like to give SW a go.
Do you think it's cheeky to go to a class, join up, get the pack and stay for the talk but not go back and just do it yourself? I can't really justify to my hubby spending £5 a week on classes when I have a gazillion diet books in the bookcase. Oh, and £32k of debt :mad:0
