Can anyone help me - at my last meeting someone was talking about mango and how it is now synned?! I had no idea about this and often if I am travelling with work will grab a fruit pack that has fingers of melon, pineapple and mango in it.

Now the weird thing is on the syns calculator online, it says mango is free.

Has anyone else heard if mango is synned?

Fluff1987 - I find that if you take the curry off the heat for a few minutes before you stir through the yoghurt or quark in, then it doesn't seperate. Quark when it seperates is ewwwww!

Jaffa_Cake - Yes thanks - really trying to be focused and feeling positive - I want that stone sticker!!!!

Well, I'm being good. Went to the gym last night and have a Vew-Do balance board class tonight - which I fully expect to end with me falling on my face!! I'll give it a try! I think it seems to be like a skateboard but on a roller?

I also bought some ASDA Fat Free yoghurts this week which seem much creamier than Mullerlights and cheaper! Also made a tonne of SW chocolate mousee - my sweet tooth is my downfall!

Has anyone tried the Jacobs Savour crackers? They are 20 cals each and I'm not sure how many syns they would be but they are rather lush :)

Just in case you didn't know, some flavours have syns. Fat free doesn't mean syn free, annoyingly enough :(

  • Hi,

Hope everyone is well. I'm feeling a bit rough with this virusy thingy that's going round! Anyway haven't eaten apart from an apple and a banana. Think I'm going to have veg risotto tonight. It's so easy to make - the way I make it is synned but I suppose it could be adapated to not be! It's also a microwave version so is the easiest thing to make!

If anyone wants the recipe, I can post.x

    It's really easy!

You prepare your veg by cooking until still firmish. I use a few florets of frozen broccoli, cauli and peas and bung them in the microwave for about 5 mins.

In a microwaveable dish (I use a casserole), put in a clove of garlic and 15g of butter. (I think this approx 105 calories so about 5.5 syns). Cook this for about 1.5 mins.

Then make up 500 ml veg stock - I use knorr stock pot which I think is free now (correct me if I'm wrong).

Put the stock and a cupful of risotto rice into the casserole and stir. Cook on high for 6 mins.

Stir and cook for another 5 mins.

Add chopped up veg, stir and cook for a final 5 mins.

When finished stir in a good dollop of light cream cheese (approx 4 syns ish) or extra light if preferred which would be less syns I think.

    Enjoy!

This serves four or if really hungry, 3! So approx 2.5 - 3 syns depending on size of portion. You can also add any other free stuff. I've used mushrooms and peppers before and I suppose you cooked add cooked chicken or fish on a red day. You could try making it without the butter and just browning the garlic in fry lite to use less syns but I'm not sure how it would taste. I might try it tha way because if you could cut the butter out, it would be approx 1 syn per portion!

  • Hmmm I cannot see anything about mango being synned? I thought it was free too??

I hope you get some clarification here, because you don't want to be doing anything to hold you back!

    Good luck :D xx

I think I must be having a funny turn - I put a note on my SW group FB page asking about the mango conversation and 1 other girl that was sitting near me said she heard the consultant say it was synned too. Then consultant comes on FB and says no you must have been dreamning, fresh mango is def free! Ignore me folks, that 1.5lb of fat I put on has obviously clogged up my lugs!

  • 4.5lb off for me last night - phew!

Was having an awful day, well afternoon, yesterday and hardly ate all day but trotted off to group after a slight grump with the boy!

Got a holiday next week and the boy has challenged me to lose a minimum of 2lb over the one week holiday and the half week after that before I'm back at group and I'm certain I can do it as we will be swimming and walking over the hol and generally being active :)

Hoping everyone is having a good week. Need to find some motivation to cook a few bits to freeze for when the boy is away in November - not used to fending for myself, usually cook for a small army!

Whilst I'm thinking of it, anybody know if I'd be able to freeze the orangeade chicken? (some people call it Fanta chicken) sounds delish but the boy wouldn't go near it so I'd be the only one eating it!

Need to start collecting some warming winter recipes too!

Hello all, just a quickie before i go to bed.

Been to WI and am 1.5lb lighter. The 12 week christmas countdown has started!!!! Berry hifi bars hit the 'shops' w/c 22nd october and new magazine out tonight. Have not had a chance to look at it yet as its still in the car. Consultant literally had her delivery as she had loaded the car to come to group.

We have a stand in consultant for the next 3 weeks so hoping group dynamics will alter. The stand in has battled with weight loss on SW for the past 3 years and has worked out in that time she has yo-yo'd with 20 stone loss. She started her journey at 24 stone and seriously got into SW in october last year, she has now lost 12 stone 12lb and is struggling to loose the last half a stone. She had a pair of her old trousers in her bag tonight and is now able to fully fit in one leg of them  Hers hoping for something inspirational next week. See you all in the morning.
