FlatEric -Tiggers coming along nicely. I wouldn't be brave enought o post a picture of the back of my pieces.

Have charted the wording for Charlie Bear this morning, decided on Charlie's in Cross stitch above Charlie and 1st Christmas in outlining below with 2012 inside the curve of the C. Will try to finish it this afternoon but have my BIL mothers funeral to go to.

Have popped into my local store and ordered my DMC Diamante thread this morning, may take 2 weeks to arrive but not in a rush. Has anyone received their order from Cross Stitch Heaven yet - seems to be taking ages, unlikely to order from them again will stick to Across Town.

Had a rubbish time at the hospital today. Was supposed to be having ultrasound first thing, then pre assessment, then in the afternoon I would see the consultant. Well, they called this morning and said don't bother with pre assessment-they'll do that when I come in the afternoon. Ok, fine. My friend had kindly offered to give me a lift, so went to the ultrasound, then we had 4 hours to kill. :( So she suggested a trip to Costco & Ikea. This was good, as there was some bits I needed to get. Got some nice frames-thanks Louise!-in Christmas red & green and some pretty zip lock bags to store WIP & UFO's in. Will post pics later. Then went for lunch-treated friend as she's been so good with helping me out. Then went back to hospital. Was kept waiting for over half an hour & was in so much pain. Then when I went in to speak to the consultant, he recommended that I go back to the NHS to have the op done. Said there's more back up for me if something went wrong! Why on earth couldn't he just tell me this over the phone instead of dragging me into the hospital? Now I still have to pay the insurance excess, even though all they've done is a blood test & ultrasound (which I had through GP on NHS already) and will have to wait goodness knows how long to get the op on the NHS. Life goes on hold again whilst I wait for an op date. I bet it'll be over christmas. Sorry, feel really down & sad about it all today.

Sorry you had a rubbish day! I work at an NHS hospital and have previously worked in the private sector. The reason your consultant wishes to perform the op at an NHS hospital is probably because there is no ITU/HDU unit at the private one. With your increased BMI (sorry!) you are a high anaesthetic risk.

It is common practice for consultants to treat private patients in their NHS hospital on a fee-paying basis. There is no guarantee that a bed will be available on the day, the same as NHS patients as they are allocated on clinical need so pp's are not given priority.

You need to check with your health insurance company but as long as your consultant is happy to confirm the reason for the change of hospital they should approve it. That way you will get a new op date quickly.

On a stitchy note, I started the London sampler for project 12 on Monday and am progressing quite quickly. I already have a bus :j

Thank you so much for this. It's made things a lot clearer for me. Think I need to make a few phone calls to clarify what he meant. I thought he meant I was being treated by the nhs now, but perhaps he meant he just wanted to do it in their hospital. I appreciate you taking the time to post. :)
Popped in and out yesterday, but didn't post,

Was my birthday yesterday, so got given money so a trip to hobby craft was organised with my mum as we had 20% vouchers as well, was in there for 2 and a half hours didn't spend to much, just under £40 with the discount but got bits that I have needed for a while, mil, came to sew me last night with hobby craft vouchers as well so another trip soon! going to get my hair cut this morning as it desperately needs it. Hubby as ordered me Louise frame and a big piece of evenweave for my birthday, that should hopefully come Monday. Will catch up propally later

    Happy belated birthday, Maria! :bdaycake:

Still haven't charged the batteries for my camera, so just used the iPad and the quality is a but rubbish. Here are some little tree decorations that I made yesterday and the luggage tag I made a while ago for mum.

Here's the selection of zip lock bags I bought from ikea for storing my wip and UFO's in.

This is a pack of little gift bags that I might use for pots of gold this year. There's a thread on here about them and I did them a few years ago and they turned out well.

These are the frames I had from ikea. There's loads of different colours, but I like that these are quite festive.

 I've just spoken to my consultant and I've been offered a slot for my op on Tuesday! He said that's all they've got for AGES so I'd be advised to take it. Trouble is, I am supposed to be going to Gloucester on Wednesday, then on holiday for a few days on Friday. He said I'll be ok to travel, but I won't get out of hospital until Wednesday. It's gonna be a busy week!
