I thought I would post the following to remind all of us and any new members who may stumble upon our lovely Cafe the rules concerning copyright.
Its taken from a publication called 365 Cross Stitch Designs.
Firstly, I should say that all of us are very proud and fond of our cross stitch community and we will not do anything to jeopardise it. Anyone asking for copies of charts be they from a magazine or from a kit we might be stitching will be given short shrift and a simple answer NO!
Please do not be offended by this post. Copyright laws are there for a reason and we will not entertain requests that may breach them.
Copyright
Unauthorised reproduction of this magazine, in whole or part, is prohibited without written permission of the publisher. Not to be resold, lent or hired out for more than the recommended retail price or in part. Readers may photocopy charts, mail order coupons and competition entry forms provided copies are for personal use only. Readers may sell one or two stitches designs from 365 Cross Stitch Designs as long as they do not go into mass production.0 -
Whoever it was who is doing the Joan Elliott angel, (sorry, I forgot who it is) - I'm sure it'll be a lovely one to stitch. members who have been about for a while might remember my JE santa that I did a couple of years ago. It was a great design to stitch because of the lack of confetti stitch and the beautiful effect made by all the similar shades of red blending into each other.0

Minimiss - as far as I'm aware it's OK for someone to sell pages cut from a magazine, but it's not OK to sell photocopies or electronic copies. As was stated before 'included in a magazine' is not the same as 'free'.
As for your comment about 'sharing between friends', that's not exactly relevant here yet is it? You've appeared in our forum and the first thing you've said is that you want us to send you charts because you don't like the idea of paying the asking price for them. The second thing you've said is that you object to our refusal. So far I'm not seeing any friendship.
You will see some swapping of charts in past threads/pages, some of that was illegal and no longer happens, some of it is people taking a risk for a friend. Either way, it doesn't give you a right to demand free charts.
Someone may contact you by PM and offer these charts to you (because we're nice people really). If they do then they are breaking the law to do you a favour and should be profusely thanked. If they don't then you still don't have any right to ask again until you have made friends with us all.I thought I would post the following to remind all of us and any new members who may stumble upon our lovely Cafe the rules concerning copyright.

Here here Flat_Eric and Elliep.
My Cross Stitch Gold says exactly what your mag says Flat_Eric.
These posts reminded me of an article in a recent WOXS which I've just dug out of my stash. It was in issue 194 and it says;- Copying a magazine or free kit chart is fine for your own use.
- The magazine is happy for you to pass on a copy of a design from the magazine, providing you are not going to stitch that design yourself.
- It's OK to sell your magazine provided you do not copy any of the pages to keep. Selling scans and photocopies breaches copyright and is unacceptable.
- The magazine is happy for you to stitch and sell finished items provided it is on a small scale, for example for charity.
Also their small print says that charts may be copied for personal use only and that no part of the magazine may be resold without permission! Anyone else confused yet?:rotfl:
Seems it's safest not to copy anything. And if people are asking rediculous money for charts on eBay, remember you can order back issues from the publishersCross Stitch Cafe Challenger No. 26 :hello:XStitch to do list:-- Birth Sampler -- Christmas Angel -- Mum's Xmas Stitch -- Christmas decs 3 & 4 -- Xmas Bird ---- Snowflake Sonata -- Be Jolly -- JE Unicorn -- Start HAED!!! --0 -

Thanks Ellie, thats me :rotfl: I don't think I ever saw your finished piece but I have seen other completed JE designs. I have always written them off before thinking half stitches and confetti. Now deciding to do one/seeing the chart has made me change my mind. Can't wait to start now :T
One finished Oriental Bird - Much smaller than I imagined though, have no idea what I am going to do with it :rotfl:
Now onto my UFO Gorjuss Foxes, this was where it was up to when I last posted it...
Happy stitching all :j0 -
