Just popped on to say I've finished Charlie Bear

Charlie bear finished by Ailsb1, on Flickr

    or have I?

As it's Charlie's first Christmas what do people think I should do about wording? Options as I see it:

    1. Leave without wording
    2. Baby's 1st Christmas
    3. Charlie's 1st Christmas
    4. Christmas 2012

Any opinions gratefully received. I'm not very good at knowing what to put on designs so tend to leave them. Thanks for any comments.

Could you squeeze a little (sparkly?) "2012" inside the C? That would look good :)

    Morning ladies.

Ruth. Hope your back is feeling better today. Having just clicked your link I want to say best of luck with the Great Britain blackwork design  Look forward to seeing updates pics on that one! (you have to start it soon now :rotfl:)

PAP. Very nice Rose, I really like it. The little blue bird is pretty too.

Maria. Love the advent calendars, very nice.

Chicky. Thanks for the offer but I have now found the chart I wanted.

As for me. Didn't stitch yesterday as head was pounding so I got the ironing out of the way. Feeling much better today cold wise so will stitch this afternoon.
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:
  • I was out all day yesterday so have loads of posts to catch up with but in scanning them I noticed chicky's comment about the SEW book. Just wanted to say that The Book People sell craft books at reduced prices and have a 10% off offer until midnight tonight - enter SPARKLE at the checkout
They don't have the Sew book though do have Stitch and Quilt in the same series but there are a couple of others that I thought looked OK

He's lovellly. How much space have you go can you fit
2012 on one side (or top) and Charlie's 1st Christmas on other side (or bottom)?

thanks FOS I'd forgotten about book people - their postage puts me off (and have had poor customer service in the past when things didn't arrive). Might have a trip to waterstones and nosey at the books then order the one i like cheep on amazon or somewhere. saw a few that looked good on there last night.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

Well tonight I was late home as I went to collect my new threads - £75 for 500 give or take plus a DMC wooden box (the one where you put the picture on top - think someone on here posted it once upon a time. Also a canvasy type bag to hold the 5 plastic floss boxes. So works out about 15p each and the seem quite full the bobbins - maybe the full 8m. Still to check what is there - see DMC has a check list on their website so will print it out and check. Hubby said I looked so happy sitting there counting them. He took a photo - maybe I will post it later - but my face looks so red - he says cause I am happy. SO with that cost we are on beans and toast for the rest of the month!

Hope everyone else is ok - don't mean to gloat or brag.

Eh?? You haven't, that's not gloating - I'm chuffed to bits for you, what a bargain! :T

    Charlie Bear is gorgeous :)

I would include the words Charlies' First Christmas 2012

I think I would have 'Charlie' In large blue (the bow tie shade) cross stitched letters above the bear, then '1st Christmas 2012' in darker blue backstitch beneath the bear.

  • Ailsb - Charlie Bear is gorgeous. Deifinitely write something to mark this special occasion.

shelly - hope you manage some stitchy time this afternoon.

chicky - hope you manage to track down a good sewing book soon. Is it worth visiting local library to see what they have? Mind you the ones in ours (only looked for xstitch) are as old as the hills but having said that they might be useful for picking up some basic techniques and then you will be raring to go hee hee.

Order from XStitch Heaven hasn't arrived today (sob sob)

    Take care everyone,

Here is my little owl all framed. Picked up a mount for 50p and the frame for £6.00 from my local framers and did it myself.

Got the christmas ornaments book from Sewandso today but not had chance to have a look yet. Also picked up Cross Stitcher too but no time to look at that either!!

Sk00bie - sounds like you had a lovely day out. Not sure if I've missed it but what Christmas Ornament are you doing? Also thanks for the info on the DMC thread.

I had the 20% off voucher from Hobbycraft as well. Have printed it off and going to pop down after work tomorrow (if I can squeeze it in before Cubs). Going to get the DMC Metallic thread (if they sell it) and might treat myself to a magazine. Also need some polysterene (sp) balls for Cubs to pin sequins on for Christmas.

It's one of four Mill Hill beaded ones my mum bought me from the US last Christmas, this one

    I've done 2 already;

And then the last one is this one :)

I'd put Baby's First Christmas on one line and then 2012 underneath or in the 'C' like Mags_cat suggested.

Sorry about the massive post :o on with the stitching!

PS anyone going to Watford or Greenford Hobbycrafts tomorrow? Might see you there :rotfl:
