  • Just taking a few minutes to try and catch up on some more posts - is it the horrible weather that is making everyone more chatty? Whatever the cause I love it and it's also great to see more new people joining our cafe society.

Caroline I've seen charts of tiny hands and feet but can't remember where. I've got lots of magazines if someone knows an issue number

Louise Just looking at your to do list made me feel stressed:rotfl: And then I thought about my own
There's the Christmas card for the exchange of course
I have to finish the xs on a Shepherd's Bush stocking and then make this and the 2 Angel Stockings.
    I have to finish Christmas Cheer for either 12 12 12 or 20 12 2012
I want to make the Lizzie Kate Christmas ABC into a cushion so that it can be displayed this year
I've got a Joan Elliott Christmas Angel UFO which I would like to finish and frame
And I have at least 2 non xs projects I would like to complete before Christmas
And as I consider that Christmas starts on 1st December there are only 9 weeks......................

So if anyone finds any spare time lurking down the back of the sofa please send it my way

blue eyed girlThe Triptych looks wonderful - I love getting out the Christmas stitchings

sweetcarer Sorry to hear about the accident - it is so unfair that you are suffering physically and possibly financially from something which isn't your fault (I had a car written off in a collision with a disqualified driver - he went to prison but I still had to claim on my insurance and suffered the loss of my NCB )
What a lovely find - 30 skeins of thread. Although I mainly use DMC I like Anchor as well and there are some colours they do which don't have direct DMC equivalents

FE I like the advert calendar design in Cross Stitch Gold as well though I won't be adding it to my to do list for this year. Hope the sorting of the threads went well

firefly The birth sampler is really cute

brednall Which birth sampler from the Historical Sampler Company did you like? I think I may have one of them somewhere ;) I like their designs but think that the charts are expensive

Elle Those seasonal samplers will look stunning - you certainly like a challenge :D

    ruth honeyGallstones are horrible

mags catSo true about the lack of understanding by people who don't stitch (or sew). It's one reason why I am now very picky about who I stitch for and why I love things like our Christmas card exchange as we all appreciate the work that goes into even a simple card

mrsmpagree with your comments about blending filament and would also recommend Thread Heaven. Do you knot the filament in the needle? It helps a bit as does using short lengths.

Apologies for the length of the post - I should have brought biscuits
  • b-e-g the pooh one was a cover kit as well

fos no i didnt tie the blending filament to my needle but ill try that next time, thank you

BEG - your finished pieces are great. I particularly like the pooh and piglet.

TMIF - I was thinking about you earlier that I hadn't seen a post from you lately. Hope you are okay. Not that I need it but the baby feet pattern is lovely, I've saved it to my favourites.

So far here is my to do list:

Christmas Card for the exchange - isn't it weird not being able to share what we are stitching and our progress.

Tree of stitches x 2 - one for my Sister and one for my friend. Going to do them in different colours so that it doesn't feel like doing the same piece twice.

Finish the turtle for my son.

Fairy pattern (see post from Maria) - for my cousin. Might actually do another one of these instead of the Tree of Stitches for my friend.

"C" Charlie Bear - for Charlie as present for 1st Christmas.

UFO Advent calendar - going to try to do this to finish on either 12.12.12 or 20122012. started it about 10 years ago and finished about 4 or 5 days. Need to find it out.

UFO Christmas design with trumpet (going to try to change it into a Tuba for son) - again for 12.12.12 or 20122012. Started this in November 1993 whilst my hubby was in hospital because his heart had gone out of rhythm.

If I get time (hahaha) I'd also like to try to do the animals of Sri Lanka sampler for my son, but this is highly unlikely.

Ok - I'm open to bets as to how many I might actually get finished by Christmas 2012 :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • sk00bie - don't forget to pack wellies and brollies for your trip up north. It has been absolutely pouring down all day. I am fed up of getting wet and having to change into dry clothes. Despite the rubbishy weather - hope you have a good trip.

Haha thanks for the tips, I really feel like I should have brought wellies! It's poured with rain since we passed Manchester yesterday, all through the night while we stayed at a friend's in Oldham and all the way to Newcastle today! The roads were more like rivers in places, I felt like we'd have done better with a boat than my car :D
Luckily we haven't had to go out much, and am now curled up with some stitching at my great aunts house.

oh i have just found the black work faries although they arnt actually black work they are silhouettes sp?

Well I've lost over 3 stone in the last 15 months and it's been roughly since I started at the gym that I've been getting the pains. Maybe exercise doesn't agree with me! :rotfl: Ever since I found out it was gallstones, I've been trying to eat low fat, have more fruit, and I'm drinking lemon & ginger tea once a day. I'm fed up, hungry and tired! :o

Haha I feel your pain, I just love food too much! I read people are more likely to have them if they are overweight, if they have lost a lot of weight recently, if they are female and if someone else in the family has had it. My dad has his out when he was about my age and I fit all the other criteria, so I'm in trouble!

Well I'd better get on, not much time for stitching up here :(

    My to do list is too long to write out! But before Christmas I need to;
    • Decide on and stitch the card for the exchange.
    • Stitch my other Christmas cards for the family.
    • Stitch the Blackwork angel for 12.12.12
    • Sttich as many of my other Christmas designs as possible!

I've also got some other Christmas crafty things I want to do so Im going to busy :rotfl:

Luckily I've got 2 weeks off now so I can't wait to get started.

Hope every one is staying dry and warm and those who aren't feeling well feel better soon.

    xx

Been on holiday for a week and have 17 pages to catch up on  but would love to be included in this please.

Also the round robin for the New Year.

Been working on a Greek Scene whilst in Zante and thoroughly enjoying it. Caused quite a stir stitching in a bar in the evening and had to show the bar staff (male and female) how to do it and my progress every night :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I didn't drink at a party I went to at the weekend because I wanted to come home and stitch (it was in the afternoon). I am always stitching on the bus and do get odd comments!

Thanks for all your replies to my holiday question. I am going to go I think. The break will do me good and hopefully make me feel a bit better.

Current stitchy project coming along nicely. Must sit down soon and decide on projects that I want to do - I have lots to pick from!!

I was thinking at any one time of having one xmas project on the go (always need xmas cards/tags), one small kit - birthday kit etc and one large project! large project yet to be decided!

Oh and its stitchy club tomorrow!

Awww how nice to be missed :)

I have been posting a bit - but I have the lurgy so haven't been up to much.

I do have a wee update though - she's nearly done; just the gold outlining on her wings, and the stems to do now :)

TMIF - she's beautiful, if I had a girl she would definitely be on my to do list.

Sk00bie - hope you have a wonderful holiday despite the weather and get lots of stitching done.

    My post just disappeared :(

Sk00bie - hope you have a great holiday despite the weather and get lots of stitching down.

TMIF - I love that ladybird fairy, if I had a girl she would definitely be on my to do list. Absolutely stunning, can't wait to see it framed. who are you stitching it for?

Totally non stitch related - just heads up that Sainsbury's have 25% off clothing until next Monday. Love their jeans - at just over £9 I haven't found anywhere to beat them. Hope you don't mind me posting about this but thought I'd share in case anyone needed anything and had missed it being mentioned eleswhere.

Ok back to Christmas card now.
