I'm kinda getting that way myself, the downside is I have to go away a few weekends every year for work. They are trying to get me to go on a weeks course and I keep putting it off because I hate the thought of being away :o

However - important questions...how would you be travelling? Will you be able to stitch while you are there? (Ie. if I'm visiting my mum she would have no probs with me sitting chattingand stitching - other people could be offended by that)

If it were ME.....I would go with OH for the company and to see friends. On the day of the running event I would let him go off and do his thing while I had X number of hours for quiet stitchy time. Then I would meet up with him afterwards to say well done and go for a drink/meal/whatever.

My OH will be driving us. When we went up in the summer, I read my kindle! - I can't read a tree book though? Weird!

I think my OH would like me to go although he isn't saying that - telling me to do whatever I want to do which is nice but doesn't help me make up my mind! I decide that I'm not going then I change my mind and decide I should go. Repeat! I think I will play it by ear. I don't feel like going at the moment but I'm sure I will change my mind (probably on a daily basis until we are due to go!). The leave is booked from work and I know the moment I see his car disappear down the road I'll sulk to the sofa and wish I was going. I suppose work is getting me down at the moment and I just want to bury my head in the sand so I do think the break will do me good. Will keep you posted.

and Oh. there are some lovely new Michael Powell Kits on the sew and so website :D *skoots off to ring bank manager....* :D

    Hello girls

Well tried to print of my pattern for my christmas card stitch and its not playing - might try and do it from work tomorrow - go in early - and its only one sheet of A4.

Think I will try and finish my lavender stitch for my 12.12.12 stitch.

Still got a few aches from the accident. Car still away. Feel very sad worried sick that I am going to lose it. Hubby trying to reassure me.

Off to do some on my AOY exchange and finish off the baby sampler. Had to email someone for the final details as I realised I didn't have his time or weight.

Well better check on FaceBook and put on a cardi - scared to put on heating and get on.

    Keep well everyone

    sweetcarer ;)

PS I don't mind what is written on my card either - just need to clarify do we sign it or not?

Been on holiday for a week and have 17 pages to catch up on  but would love to be included in this please.

Also the round robin for the New Year.

Been working on a Greek Scene whilst in Zante and thoroughly enjoying it. Caused quite a stir stitching in a bar in the evening and had to show the bar staff (male and female) how to do it and my progress every night :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • maria - love the hands and heart design.

Ruth_honey - polar bear is so cute.

laura - looking forward to seeing a piccy of reindeer cushion. Ypu are not alone in not being able to stitch other stuff. A few of us mentioned this a few days ago. People think because you can cross stitch - you can stitch anything. Thankfully your m-i-l is on standby to help you out.

fos - lovely coaster and gorgeous 'autumn' :T

sk00bie - don't forget to pack wellies and brollies for your trip up north. It has been absolutely pouring down all day. I am fed up of getting wet and having to change into dry clothes. Despite the rubbishy weather - hope you have a good trip.

Ailsb - great offer 3 for £1. I have just done 5 for £5 on WOCS which is still quite good really. I cancelled my last sub via email, so I probably missed out on being offered other deals.

JCS1 - looking forward to seeing Finishing Post.

    maria - love your pics

Finished a little xmas card (not the one for the ex) and that is as far as I've got today. Had every intention of sorting card for exchange and a project for 12/12/12 but I just cannot summon up the energy - the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. :(

Maria - thanks for posting the pictures. I like the second one, it's a bit more funky. But do you think it is too young for someone who is over 50? Not really sure now. Could do with stitching her something as she is ahrd to buy for and I don't want to spend lots of money. I knitted her a scarf last year and she loved the fact that I had spent time on it.

I love your finished designs, particularly the KISS.

Mrs MP - Thanks for the offer of the book but will pass on it this time.

  • Hi all, i have only ever done 1 cross stitch many years ago and it took me months to complete!! never got the urge again but now the dark nights are coming I am so fed up with tv thought i would give it another go. To ease me into it i bought a couple of christmas type kits from hobbycraft.

They are small ones and have nearly finished one but dont know what to do with it when its done. Its approx 3in x 4 in and sort of thought about putting init a card and sending it to friend. But after my hours of hard work it may just get chucked out with the cards so wanted a little frame or something but no idea what.

Hobby craft do a key fob but its a bit too small and an acrylic coaster but thats a bit too big! (and round) am sure someone here will have loads of ideas!!!
  • How about a small cushion/lavender or some other scented cushion for a drawer?

Welcome Mrs baggings, pull up a chair how about some Xmas tree decs? If you can't do normal sewing you could put some felt on the back with some double sided tape popping a little bit of ribbon between the felt and your sewing a voila a Xmas decoration!

Been working on table mat number 3 tonight! Good job I like red!

No need to get all 'PC' with my card, whoever has me as their partner! No 'Happy Winterval' needed here. I love Christmas, and although I'm not religious, I love pretty much everything about Christmas. Spending time with family, wrapping up warm in the snow (when we get it!), decorating the tree, eating lots of comfort food, buying & wrapping presents, listening to Christmas tunes (even Slade!) and watching endless films from mid November onwards. I once even had a Christmas in July party! :xmastree:

Me too! I love Christmas, and all the 'cheesy' stuff you just listed is exactly what I like best :D
I will be gutted when the kids get older and the 'magic' goes:(
