Morning all!
Emma- sorry that you're craft stall didn't go as well as hoped. Another option is to hang onto all your stock, do some more christmas based cards etc and do another fair nearer to christmas. But I understand if that's not what you're wanting! Another idea is to list it all on ebay under a title along the lines of 'Completed Cross Stitch Job Lot Craft Fair Stock' and maybe someone who is going to a fair themselves and whats some extra stock to bulk their stall out will want it... just an idea
re- christmas card exchange... I was going to sign mine, but I thought we just weren't going to say who we had until the receiver receives it..
maria- love your 2 ideas, have repinned you hands idea onto my craft ideas board for later. Quite a bit later. At the moment it's just me and husband so maybe need to wait for some more hands. Unless I stitch the cats paw! :rotfl:Also like the heart and have downloaded that- will make a nice valentines card for husband if I stitch it sneaky-like at work
Did a fair bit on my reindeer cushion yesterday, only a bit of blue left to do and then it can be made into a cushion... not by me though! Mother-in-law said she will do it. I am hopeless with a sewing machine. I once sewed my finger. Seriously. Not fun
I looked all over for Cross stitch Gold yesterday as also fancying the blackwork angel- but no joy. 3 whsmiths and a hopeful check in morrisons as they usually have a good range of cross stitch magazines. Was going to take a trip to Hobbycraft today but the weather :eek::eek: It would be welly boots, rain coat, umberella....0 -
Good morning Stitchers. Hope you are all managing to keep warm, safe and dry during this awful weather.
I've got a lot of posts to catch up with because as well as having lots of visitors to feed and entertain on Sunday I had a bit of a nightmare with my laptop which consumed oodles of time I cannot afford
Briefly - my Dad gave me his old scanner because mine had broken and in attempting to download a driver (which I now find doesn't exist for Windows 7) I ended up with a nasty malware programme called BABYLON on my pc. It seems to be almost impossible to get rid of this programme. Eventually I found instructions on how to install Chrome without Babylon highjacking it so did this and uninstalled Firefox and IE. If anyone has had any success in removing this programme completely I'd love to know. Why is this not off topic? Because I was planning to use the scanner for the Blackwork Angel as promised.
Plan B is to use the scanner at work but I forgot to bring in the magazine today so it will be tomorrow before I am able to reply to Maria, Mrsmp and Ailsb Hope no one is itching to start - sorry
On a more positive note I stitched a coaster for a friend
Great work coaster by stitchyfeather, on Flickr
I also stayed up until 2 a.m. to finish the Angel Stocking - have taken photo but not uploaded it yet. It still needs the name adding but she isn't due until next month and although I have been told what she will probably be called I want to wait for confirmation. Then I will make both of them into stockings before Xmas.
I also took advantage of having other people in the house to help me with picture hanging (so much easier with another person) and swapped Celtic Summer for Celtic Autumn
Lavender & Lace Celtic Autumn by stitchyfeather, on Flickr
and hung The Dreamer (just back from the framers - picture to follow)
Hope to catch up with all the recent posts soon0 -
thanks FoS, im greatful whenever you are able to do it.
love the coaster, and aumtum looks beautiful-- looking out of my window i think winter would probally be more apt.SPC~12 ot 124

FoS your Autumn lady is lovely. Have you done the other seasons too?
Going to have to put heating on now as hands too cold for any stitching!0 -
Ailsb Love your 3 completed and framed projects. Very good prices on the framing. I've stitched something similar to your African Woman (think it was an Anchor kit) but it's one of the gifts I forgot to photograph before I sent it  The story behind the Tiger is lovely - have you considered typing it out and sticking it to the back of the frame? And your version of A Good Marriage is lovely. The bag charm kit was a real bargain :money:
JCS Finishing Post is looking great and the end is in sight.
It would be really interesting if everyone who likes the Blackwork Angel does a stitch-a-long
Willow Have never had that problem with threads but any textile material is susceptible to damage from damp, moths, sunshine etc. But I wouldn't carry on using them - I would replace them with good ol DMC
mallowbrain sorry can't help with Dimensions kits - I don't recall ever stitching one
skoobie thank you for the offer of the beads for Imagine. It's very generous of you but I now have some suitable beads - am just missing the time to complete this piece as have others which have deadlines
ruth honey good to see you back; love your idea of the house with a Christmas Room. What a wonderful story about The Good Marriage piece - it will mean so much to the couple
tellmeitsfriday Your ladybird fairy is exquisite. Like you I am a huge fan of coloured and hand dyed fabric. I mustn't start anything like this before Christmas but am definitely considering one of the JE fairies for a New Year project
Keep warm everyone0 -

I've got 4 out of the 5 - Spring, Summer, Autumn and Noel except that I didn't stitch the word Noel so that is my Winter piece. I have Celtic Winter in my stash and will stitch it "one day". I rotate the pieces with the seasons as I have run out of wall space to display them all0 -

Like having a metal vice round your body and it being tightened-A LOT! And the sickness isn't good, either. Did you have surgery for it? Almost all my attacks have been at night, but last week I had one on Tuesday morning. I only had toast & nutella and a coffee, so no idea what caused that one. Had that breakfast before & been ok.
How was the wedding reception?
Yes I agree it's awful. I did almost laugh in the face of the doctor in accident and emergency who suggested it was bad indigestion :rotfl: she obviously hadn't experienced it and i hope she never has to! I haven't had any surgery yet, ( touch wood I won't need to) I've been ok since the major attack last year. Hoping this is down to improved diet and weight loss. Oh and the reception was fab, I had a lovely time.Morning all
Thanks for your suggestions - I am going to try Etsy and see what happens there,
Now I can get back to some real stitching or a larger piece at least. I'd love to get on with 'Row of Love' but think I might need to grid the material out before I carry on. Just wondered if you lovely ladies could tell me the best way to do this - a pen or with sewn running stitch type grid to remove as I go or afterwards.
Regards
Emma
Hope Etsy works out Emmayou could also try Folksy which is the UK version of Etsy.
I made great progress with he black work cats yesterday. I am on to the last two rows of outlining :T don't think I'll finish until later in the week though as we're off up North for a couple of days
I think I've decided to do the Black work angel for 12/12/12, managed to order the materials yesterday oops! it's dangerous having a PayPal balance lol

FOS -I imagine they are all gorgeous! The Autumn piece is beautiful. SAL for the blackwork angel sounds cool, will have to try and get copy of chart. Do you think it is suitable for a blackwork newbie? It looks lovely in the mag.
Morning everyone, been awol since weds, will poss explain later when have time. I've been stupidly busy but hopefully things will slow now, esp as Joel (OH) back at uni today so should have lots of stitchy time *fingers crossed* and will finally organise stash and sort DMC thread bundles I purchased. At the mo stalling leaving house, but have to go get mums shopping and drop it off. Grrr. This weather plays havoc with my health. Ciao for now, I'll be back later for proper catch up, now i've caught up with all the posts.0 -
FOS - any time on the Angel - I'm in no hurry! I know you've mentioned the rotation of your angels before but I think this is a great idea.
Ok on the scrunge - does anyone have any links etc to a small fairy pattern that would be suitable to stitch as a Christmas gift for my cousin. She is 50+ lives alone and isn't rally into anything other than fairies, tarot cards, crystals and dream readings! I thought a fairy might be an idea, but as those who "know" me realise I dont' do fairies so have no patterns. Her birthday is January and her star sign is Capricorn so if anyone has anything suitable or links I would be extremely grateful.
My Christmas list is growing but the time is getting less (other things happening). Once I have a definiative list I will share with you.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

Elle - Hope you got some stitching done yesterday and are feeling a bit better today
Brednall - I am so sorry to hear the craft fair wasn't a successWhat do you think was the problem, was it quiet. or did people just not appreciate the work that had gone in? I would probably do as someone else suggested and store it, add some xmas cards and look for a sale in December when people are gift buying.
Nmm - You have so much more patience than me working with all thos epale colours- it will be lovely when it's finished
Ailsb - looking forward to seeing your updates
Maria - I love the hands idea, might add it to my list. :T Wish I had seen it when the kids were really little though lol.
Ruth - I don't know if we have been paired or if everyone is mixed up, we will need to get Caroline to clarify the rulesWhat are your Halloween plans? I liked your previous Meg and Mog stitch, do you have any of that lovely orange aida left?
The weather was beautiful here yesterday, which was great as we were out and about. The rain has hit us today but it's still quite bright - I was watching This Morning and was surprised how DARK it was out their window
