Ive ordered the cross stitch with wool on canvas - pheasant cushion (going to stitch it and give it grandma for Christmas) will I be able to use a hoop with it being on canvas?

A hoop is likely to distort the canvas and it's more of a challenge to restore canvas to shape than aida or linen.

The plastic type can also easily be used for cross stitch
  • NMM Lovely update

    Soulie Good news

Ailsb Love both pieces. Hope you will soon be feeling better

sweetcarer Think I forgot to comment on your lovely purple work - how impressive that you can show the back as well as the front

Just a quick question a friend of mine (who has been stitching for over 30yrs) has stitched a beautiful huge hogwarts. Shes stitched it in hand with no frame. I have a large one to do next.

Is it easy to stitch in hand?
I'm trying so hard to be thrifty, but it doesn't come naturally. You lot are an inspiration!

Hello everyone, there have been some lovely updates on here! I love Elle's piece, HAED? And the cats with the whiskers are lovely too.

I haven't done much stitching since I finished Somebunny as the whole house has has taken it in turns to be poorly but we are mostly better now so the needle will be out tonight! Also bought cross stitcher today for the gruffalo piece for my boys room, might have to have 2 pieces on the go!

thanks Ailsb (and whoever mentioned it on the other thread that I've missed :D

Hubby woke me up at 6am - just what I wanted after being up at 5.30am the day before with DS2 :mad:
Kids then followed suit and (feeling like death walmed up with my cold) I got the kids talking at me while he went out to get me flowers (personally I'd have preferred an 8am lie in :rotfl:)

Hubby got me my stitchy bag to keep my most current project in and (actually listened to me for once) and got me a roatating frame. It's still too wide so gotta try and tack stitch it tonight along 2 sides to make it temporarily a bit thiner then stitch it to the frame :j:j

My mummy took me (and the kids) to Nottingham for lunch and a trip to the range (cause we don't have one). and bought me lots of nice things for my kitchen. Tomorrow we are going to whizz to Leeds to the butterfly house and Ikea. Also taking advantage of her car and picking up DS2's birthday pressie.
He's still gone to the pub tonight tho!!!

Just dusted off the 'teachers' box set off the shelf so I think I'm gonna have a marathon watching session......... ohhh I wonder if you can download Queer as Folk I miss that (goes off to nosy). GRRRRRRR the 'teachers' box set is empty I am guessing they are in the big DVD wallett and I CBA'd to go and sort through that. can't find QasF on a download. So Hotel Transylvania it is.......PS3 doesn't want to play that.

right sky box and choccywoccydoodaa - that can't go wrong...................................can it?
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

    Hi Everyone,

I've been a bit of a lurker of late, but I have been keeping up with everyone's posts. There's been some lovely finishes.
maria- I particularly liked your owls- so cute!

I managed to finish my friends wedding sampler. I'm still to add their names and the date. It's not until July, so there's plenty of time for that. It's one of the pinterest free designs, it stitched up really quick and I enjoyed just doing the one colour.

Hope everyone's keeping well and cosy x
  • Thank you Julie and I love your hearts

Happy birthday, Chicky! Sounds like we have similar taste in tv shows. Got Choccywokkydodah (sp?) on our planner too. Went past the shop last weekend. Window display looked wonderful.

Been so busy with decorating. No stitching for a while. Should be done after Easter, though. Ikea delivery tomorrow. :) Can't wait until its all done...
