Hi everyone, firstly thank you to everyone that commented about the results of my scan and the fact that they found gallstones. I'm not sure if it was as a direct result of this or not but I just haven't been able to bring myself to post. I have, however, kept up with the posts. Some lovely makes going on.

Since last posting I've had my Dad in hospital with pneumonia and since being discharged he has been staying with me and as yet no sign of him going back home. I've also had my son off ill from school all this week with a chest infection and I've woken this morning feeling yuck - hence the early time of this post.

I went to the NEC yesterday as well - I wish I'd know you were goiing Winnie we could have met for a coffee. Not cross stitch related but I did order my sewing machine so I had a productive day. Also very MSE, used £3 of Tesco clubcard vouchers to get in and the £10 Redspottedhanky voucher that I won at Christmas to pay for my train fare. Took my own food and drink so the day cost me nothing other than normal spending money and apart from the sewing machine I only spent £22.

I did buy a show guide and for anyone that's interested here's the list of companies that they list for cross stitch/Embroidery Kits & Supplies/Tapestry (these are across the three halls so aren't all together)

    Trudy Anne Designs
    Immediate Media Company
    21st Century Yarns
    Caroline Bell
    Silk Route
    Blacksheep Wools
    Manor House Magazines
    Choices
    Craft Lines of Essex
    Historical Sampler Company
    Itching to Stitch
    Michael Powell Cross Stitch Art
    The Nutmeg Company
    Patharianas Cross Stitch
    Sew it All
    The Stitching Shed
    Sunken Treasures
    The Bead Scene/Vintage Stitch
    Goldwork Kits by Carolyn
    Oliver Twists
    West End Embroidery

Hopefully this list may help those that are thinking of going. Obviously if you sew as well then the choice of material is overwhelming. I got there before it opened and left at 4.30pm and only skimmed the card making side of things.

Hopefully now I've broken the habit of reading and not posting I will be back with some updates for you.

Hope everyone is well - special thoughts going out to Soulie.

Winnie - I have ordered a Janome XL601. It was £299 instead of £349(using cashback from credit card plus some money from topcashback and about £50 savings). That includes free delivery and a free quilting pack which normally retails for about £60. I wanted the quilting pack so overall I've saved £110.

The only other things I bought were 3 magazines for £5 which were older mags, 2 knitting - one with a calendar of patterns, the other with 6 balls of free wool, 1 card making which included musical die cuts and stamps. The Prima goody bag at £1.50 which included an OPI crackle gold nail varnish, some face wipes, fruit chewing gum and a large prit stick plus the March & April Prima. Some die cuts for making a couple of wedding cards. And on a stitching front a ball of 8mm perle and a ball of 12mm perle in lilac and a Maia Cross Stitch which I've wanted for the last 18 months of the Water Carrier. It was from Blacksheep and reduced from £28 to £12.99.

    What did you buy?

Maria - did you mention what you got from the LOndon Show? If so sorry I've obviously missed that post.

  • No I didn't but I didn't get much signed up to the 3 for £1 mags, got a quilting ruler, some quilting pencils and some threads. But I did that thing where you can't decided if you want somthing and then decide as so soon as you are home that you do want it so I emailed them and they sold it to me for the show price plus postage, which was really good of them :-D will post a link in a second. But mum brought a lot more. And we will definatly be going to the October one, we had a brilliant day.

  • I got this for the £30 show price and I would highly recommend them, very helpful, I ordered it at half 4 Monday and it arrived yesterday.

I'm pretty much the same at the moment, just reading everything. Hope you and the family are all feeling better soon :)

I was working away last weekend and this week has been spent getting organised for going on a family hol tomorrow, despite the heavy snow we have had (What's that all about!!!)
Just about to fill a small workbox with some stitchy stuff. Don't really want to take a big project away with me so will content myself with card sized designs and the 'Angel of Light' I'm making for my friends christmas.

Wish I was going to the craft show, it sounds really good
