Cross Stitch Cafe - stitching out of 2012 and into 2013...

Hi everyone - I'm still plodding along with my Rats cross stitch but have also been doing a couple of smaller pieces when I'm on the move!
Just popped in to say that the Cafe is mentioned again in Cross Stitch Crazy (my sub copy arrived yesterday). It's on the clubs page (pg 69) and suggests the Cafe for people who haven't got a club local to them. Nice to get another mention!
Off to Oxford for a few days now so will be taking a couple of small stitchy pieces with me"There's only one way of life and that's your own" - Levellers
"I'm feeling like a Monday but someday I'll be Saturday night" - Bon Jovi0 -
Just started my new project (the red roses for those who saw my post a couple pages back) and have to say the thread is probably the worst I have ever used. The thread is so long in length its hard to stitch with and it just tangles and knots so often I've give up. I like the design so will keep the chart then use good-old reliable DMC thread in the future when I go back to the design.
Am going to do a different design at the moment instead0 -
Evening all
I was debating whether to go to bingo again today and since my food shopping came earlier than I was expecting, I decided to give it another go. :j
It was an interesting afternoon..... Yesterday when I played, I didn't win anything but today I was more lucky and won a few games.
Unfortunately I managed to upset everyone playing bingo by calling my line too late. (well as the next number had started to be called). Cue uproar in the bingo hall. I've never known anything like it ! and for prize money of just £5, I was sat in my seat very bemused by all the fuss especially when the fuss continued even after all the games had finished.
I think I'll stay in next weekend and do my stitching. At least I won't get lynched then! I thought it quite amusing while I was there - now i feel upset about it. Daft!0 -
Hello Everyone!
Thank you for the lovely messages welcoming me back.
I managed to get a bit of stitching done last night and was really happy to do this. I'm stitching with wooly threads at the moment and have to line up three strands. Finding that a bit tedious but had a large cutting session and thats helped a lot.
Flat Eric - I went to Bingo once and they take it very seriously! I was very surprised at how serious they did take it! Well done for your win :jI wouldn't worry about the reaction, my local bingo hall is the same....
FlowersofScotland - they are really really beautiful pieces! I'm in awe of them! Although I did read you had 5 pieces framed and you have shown 2....:)
Sweetcarer - thats a lovely piece! What did you do with it in the end? Did you frame it? I hope its got pride of place somewhere.
How did the tidying go Caroline78?
WinniePooh - I don't like storing my threads on bobbins either. I find it takes too long to do and then the kinks (as FlowersofScotland said) annoy me....I get more knots this way but thats prob just how I stitch!:rotfl:0 -
Evening ladies glad its busier on herd today.
I went to a bingo hall a few years back....never again. The take it way too seriously.
Ive decided (well I changed my mind straight after saying it) I am going to try a cross stitch of birds and make it into a cushion for hubby's grandma for Christmas. She loves birds. Im looking for something that looks impressive but is easy to do. Have you come across like this?I'm trying so hard to be thrifty, but it doesn't come naturally. You lot are an inspiration!JUST LOVES THE O/S BOARD0 -

There was a lovely bird design in Cross Stitch Collection (a few issues back) but I think this design would be too big for a cushion. It was the pull out chart feature.
I'm not going to give up on bingo but I think I might leave it a few weeks before I go back to the same hall. I may try a different hall next week although looking at the prices, the tickets cost nearly £20 which is a lot of dosh and thats before you start playing the extra games.
I was a bit taken back by the reaction today. I think I would have been in big trouble if the prize money had been £500 and not £5!0 -

This is why I have never played Bingo, well apart from when we are on holiday. My Mum's next door neighbour used to go years ago. She went about five times a week and had a serious problem with it. However, she also used to tell us about how they always sat at the same table and used the same pens each session. I was always worried if we went we would sit in someone's seat...lol. I love playing it on holiday although pass my card either to hubby or my Dad when I get close as I won't shout house..lol
Cleaning went quite well today. I have 37 things to go on eBay. Anyone any idea how soft toys sell, they are mostly Disney Pooh and Eeyore and Shrek and Donkey. The Pooh and Eeyore are large ones, about 29" tall. Hubby bought me them over the years and I bought him the Shrek ones, but we have loads and Jaxon has loads of his own so no point in keeping them gathering dust on top og the wardrobe. I have kept all my Steiff ones and any really special ones, but the wardrobe looks so much tidier now...;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0 -
Hi again. Ive seen a pheasant wool cross stitch with a canvas on ebay. Ive never used sool or canvas. Is it easy or shall I steer clearI'm trying so hard to be thrifty, but it doesn't come naturally. You lot are an inspiration!JUST LOVES THE O/S BOARD0

I am stitching an Egyptian pattern on canvas using wool. I think they are really good as they seem to stitch up so much quicker. I have already completed three of the series. Just double check that it is a cross stitch kit and not a tapestry with different kinds of stitches...xx;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0

I keep typing a post on my phone and everytime I open a new tab to get the flicker code I lose my reply
Sorry I haven't been keeping up well, must try harder
Have finished my first of four Bella ans boo designs they are from cross stitcher ( so you maybe able to get them on the making spot) this one was issue 259. Although I do know you can buy kits of other Bella and boo designs. Have done before and after back stitch as I love the way the back stitch makes it pop. Not sure what I'm going to do with them yet, I'm just doing them because I like them.13 in 2013 challenge 9/130
