Off topic - we were bought a 2 night hotel voucher for our anniversary that needs to be used bh 30th April. Can anyone recommend an area to go to (not London- go there quite a bit) which is within 2/3 hours journey from Birmingham. Struggling for ideas this time of year. Its only for the 2 of us so doesn't have to be anyhing to keep a teenager amused.

We recently spent a couple of nights in Swindon, there is a big outlet centre there, which was great for Christmas shopping.

How do you store all of your threads?

I have four of the plastic boxes with all my DMC threads on bobbins and then one more with any anchor left over from kits.

  • Hi everyone no stitching today as yet. Ive still got to order some new threads so project one is on hold for now. But ive just remembered a free kit that came with a magazine for a mothers day bookmark so I think I'll give it a wiz.

Do any of you buy cross stitch magazines?

Hi all, I've done quite a bit on this now, really enjoying it too, hopefully will have it finished by the weekend.

I'm also trying very hard not to look at the links I keep seeing for new stash, I have enough without temptation :rotfl:

Coming along nicely. Looking forward to seeing next update.

  • Where is everyone. It has been very quiet in here the past few days.

We have finally unpacked our last box, everything has a home and a wee place to live at last.

Set tomorrow aside to have a good clean as we haven't really been doing general housework whilst unpacking and then I intend to go through my stash and sort it all out neatly. So tomorrow night will be a lovely night to just sit and relax with my stitching. Hopefully something good will be on tv...lol

    Hope everyone is doing well...xx

  • Evening

Not been here for a couple of days, hope that everyone is well. I don't know where the days are going they seem to disappear. I haven't managed any stitching for days, must get some done.

Winnie i used to buy magazines but stopped as apart from a few things there was lots i didn't want to stitch.

Mum to two boys your stitching is coming along well,

Laura16 your finished piece is lovely are you keeping it or have you stitched it for someone else?

Tricksie I do the same as you with my threads and have loads more dmc than anchor.

    Take care

  • DAMN DAMN DAMN :mad::mad::mad:

Must have pressed the wrong bloomin button and my post has disappeared .

Oh well here's an abridged version of sorts :D

Soulie - hope you aren't suffering too many side effects from treatment. Looking foward to seeing you back in the Cafe. Take care of yourself.

m_o_s - pleased to see that you are feeling well enough to stitch again. Looking forward to seeing those updates.

    Laura - lovely update :T

winniepooh - re mags - I get World of Cross Stitch (probably my favorite) and at the moment I have got Cross Stitch Crazy and Cross Stitch Gold. Gold is probably least favorite of all. Usually plenty of offers on for subscriptions ie. 5 issues for £5. Just try googling and I'm sure you will find some to try.

My cold seems to be fading and have had quite a good stitchy day today on Sleeping Beauty as we have had a new boiler fitted so have had workmen in and out most of the day so what else was I expected to do ;). Will have to catch up on shopping and chores tomorrow instead now. Got most of Page 3 of Sleeping Beauty done now - only another 5 to go.

Hope you all manage some stitchy time over the weekend.

  • Just popping on quick before we start cleaning. Went through my small stash last night, most of it were pieces I had already started, so I pulled out an Egyptian cushion front I started ages ago. It is a cross stitch done in wool and was one of a set of four. I already have the other three completed so am going to finish this one and get them made into cushions and give them to my brother. As they are so bulky it will empty one of my drawers completely.

I would ideally like to have one project on the go and one in reserve and not much stash at all. I used to buy things just because they were cheap, however I sold loads last year as I decided I would never do them.

I have also decided that even if I have started a project if I don't like it I am getting rid of it. No point in keeping all these WIP's if I know I am never going to do them.

What do you all think ? Would you throw out a project that you had already worked on for hours ?

  • Loving everyone's cross stitch.

Ive just been quoted for 45 dmc threads for £18.40.......is that a good buy?

  • caroline78 - I'm quite a ruthless thrower-outer so I'd just get rid of anything I wasn't going to finish. Although if there's quite alot of fabric that hasn't been stitched on I'd cut that out to keep and use another time.

I picked up my glasses today - let the stitching recommence!
