Tricksie-that's very kind of you to offer the tickets to us.
Subtle_minx-If you're still looking for someone to go to the Excel show with, I'd love to join you. I'm not too far from there and haven't been to a show in a while.subtle_minx wrote: »Welcome back Ruth Honey. *waves* You are more than welcome to the extra ticket, we can sort out days, meeting etc closer to the time. I'll let you know once the ticket arrives.
Glad to help. Would've loved to have gone myself but it's just not possible. Especially as I've put myself on as ASBO from buying anything.
Somebody at work gave me a lovely Framecraft cross-stitchable handbag mirror last week. It comes with a peacock pattern but may substitute something else. So even though I haven't bought anything my stash is still expanding :eek:Cross Stitch Cafe Member Number 44:rudolf:Cross Stitch Is For Life Not Just For Christmas :rudolf:0 -

Mags. I know what you mean about some needles just not feeling 'right' to stitch with. I had to replace my favourite one recently, it just snapped in half on me. Finding a new one from my stash of kit needles took awhile but I got there. My biggest problem with needles is finding one that has a smooth eye, I find some just shred the thread so much that the end of the thread becomes un-usable, which is a pain as I like to get as many stitches out of a length as I can.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
I picked up and started a new design over the weekend. (Can't say which one as it's going to be a present and I know the person it's for reads my posts on here!).
I *know* I should keep going on the HAED, and I will - but I need something colourful to do to distract me from the monochrome monstrosity as it has become known.
Anyway - what I was going to say was - this new design is a kit and I really noticed the quality of the needle as opposed to the job lot I bought off eBay recently. The kit needle is high quality, really smooth and solid-feeling and makes stitching a real pleasure. The job lot needles are OK - they do the job but they just don't *feel* so nice. They make the stitching process feel *scratchy*. Does anyone know what I mean by that?
It's making me think I need to spend some money on better needles - if I could get that sort of feeling on the HAED I would be much more encouraged to stitch it!
I'm a huge fan of gold plated needles - IMHO they really are easier to use and don't catch the fabric.
I'm currently using a platinum coated needle which was part of my secret santa gift from my stitching group. It's very nice to use but I can't say I have noticed any difference between it and my usual gold plated needles.0 -

Surprise - I am back again, two days in a row. I am going to the hospital later for some treatment so have a days leave so having a lazy morning and catching up on emails and stuff.
No they don't know - I didn't know if I will get them done in time - but I am now more confident I will. Just wondering do I make them into calendars or just as cards? Spend alot of faffing around looking for a suitable snow drop and found one in CSC (cross stitch collection) Jan 2013 - issue 218 - just using the snow drop in the stitch a year of flowers sampler.
Are you sure you want to send it to me - that would be kind - let me know what you want for it.
I would club together in sending the squares altogether but I am sending about 9 (6 adults, 1 child, 1 school and 1 hospital) - so I will just send my own in. Once I finish the snowdrops I am going to try and do one of my heart stitches to see how it looks - gave hubby a wee challenge to see if he could find all the letters in it and I think we found them all!
The wind is getting up now - would be nice if I could stay in and stitch but will have some lunch and off to hospital I go.
Keep well everyone

PS I see Soulie is now stitching while in hospital so is on the mend hopefully.
I only need your address to send the magazine - I don't want anything for it.
Hope all goes well at the hospital
Thanks for the better news about Soulie0 -

Thanks all for the welcome, Shelly, yummy doesn't quite cover it really lol :rotfl: DH knows he would be dumped in a heartbeat if the lovely Jason paid a visit :rotfl:
I only stitch with gold needles, I just prefer them to the kit ones but can't explain why really. Should be able to post a progress picture in a few days as almost finished the bear part of the sampler now.
Laura I love the Disney on black design, not sure my eyes could cope though on not enough sleep!StayHome * StaySafe * BeKind0 -
Evening everyone,
Threads and fabric from ATS finally arrived in post today, so that's next project lined up.
Not much stitching time tonight for me, need to do a bit of housework, so hopefully grab 30 mins or so later.

Hi Everyone,
Haven't posted much over the past few days but have been lurking and reading. I think the house move is nearly complete now. I have maybe one more car full to move from the flat and find homes for in the new house. Jaxon loves it here, he has so much room to run around in and has claimed a kitchen cupboard for himself. He climbs in one side, shuts the door, climbs along the shelf and pops out the other side laughing at himself. He has also slept quite happily in his own room each night. We have decorated it in a Disney Cars theme.
It is my birthday today and hubby bought me a new kit. It is a clock kit from Anchor and features the Disney Cars. He only paid for it today so I have fingers crossed that it arrives on Wednesday as Jaxon is going out with my cousin and I can stitch all day.
I haven't done much stitching, actually I haven't done any, as I can't settle to stitch when I know I have things to do. Hopefully we will get the rest of the stuff sorted tomorrow so Wednesday will be free.
I am now on the lookout for any other kits of the Disney Cars so if anyone sees any on their travels can they please let me know....xx;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0 -
