havent really ventured into the sales myself. DD3 was a very good girl and picked me up some bits to use for next christmas when she went out earlier in the year. read on another thread in here that someone went to boots and people were pushing shoving and just running along shelves scooping everything into their baskets.
i dont 'do' ebay so havent really got an opinion on it. i suppose if people are going to buy stuff cheap and list it its up to those who buy it whether they are prepared to pay the asking price.SPC~12 ot 124

Couldsavemore - I agree with the others just stitch at your own speed and enjoy it. I post when I can and if I'm not feeling up it to I don't, may go for a few weeks without anything then a few weeks where I post regularly. We all do what we can, when we can.
Re Across Town - I've had several oreders from them and speed has never really been a problem. Louise did split my last order sent 40 threads and followed with the others later. She did email me though so I knew what was going on. Perhaps worth contacting her and getting an update.
Nmm - the Poppy fields design is really nice and lovely that you are stitching it in memory of your Granda. Can't help with where you can get floss, would normally suggest Across Town but not sure you will want to do this given with how long recent orders have taken. Have to say I'd still use them.
FOS - I'm using 22 count antique white hardinger, white as my neutral and two shades of blue. I can't remember the numbers as they are on order. Have stuck to dmc due to costs. Would have loved to have used hand dyed floss but can't justify the spend his time of year. Like your Cottage Garden design, lok forward to seeing the update photos.
Bossymo - I like your new design and could be tempted to add it to my very long "to do" list.
BEG - I've just went through he charts on the Making Spot site yesterday and downloaded 14 of their charts, only spent £3.75. The one you've chosen for your neice is one I've downloaded, it reminds me of a Michael Powell design.
Re Boots sale - I went and I've got majority of my christmas presents for next Christmas so really pleased. Also put 2 online orders through, one large one which I really wanted which doesn't appear to be processed and a smaller one with bitsnin which has been despatched today. I don't list hings like his on ebay but suppose its up to the buyer if they want to pay what's been asked. I don't think there's any need for bad manners though, in the stores I visited (went to 2 to get what I wanted) everyonw was really civilised. No pushing or shoving and apologising if they accidentally knocked into you.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

off topic.....
did anyon secure any bargains in the b00ts 75% off sale ?? and are you for or against peeps who buy silly amounts so they can then sell on ebay?
Those sort of people REALLLY wind me up. like people who buy poundland stuff then list/ sell it for more. stops people who actaually want to get stuff at a good price from doing so.
saying that I would never join a queue at 5am to get a bargain.
JCS & Stitcher - don't know if you have seen the update but apparently all December orders from across town have been dispatched and she says to contact her if you haven't got it yet.
well Mr Weatherman apparently removed our severe weather warning for tomorrow - looking out the window as I write only 3 words springs to mind ............"hurricane - what hurricane?"
been on training today (1 hours bus ride each way) so managed to read all of stash envy. it was good but so thin and (as you can tell) doesn't take that long to read so don't think i'll be wasting money on the other one.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Thank you chickywiggle for asking the question for us! I still haven't recieved the last part of my order so will e-mail Louise and ask her. I don't like to be pushy but would like to know the remains of my order hasn't been misplaced!
It does annoy me when people go into shops with sales and buy things with intention to re-sale. I guess in an ideal society that people would only purchase what they need so others can benefit too. But I don't think that everyone has that mentaility.0 -

Can anyone advise on the best place to buy quilting material, just what's some how to's on you tube and have decided to give it ago, its something I wanted to try from ahes
Evening Maria, I too fancy learning to quilt so have been self teaching myself, only managed to make this panel so far but I think it looks ok?
I did buy a Cath Kidson Rosli quilt cover from Ikea this week, it was a single but has some really pretty fabric front and back and cost me £15 but I bought it with my birthday money so didn't feel too bad. Here is what I have managed so far...........

Are you cutting the squares your self? I'm thinking if I can do it then it might make some good Xmas presents13 in 2013 challenge 9/130

I did cut the fabric myself but I bought one of the cutters for £9.50, DH then found me a large piece of veneered wood in the garage and I cut a 5 inch template from a cardboard box and used that to cut round. I didn't want to do anything more adventurous for my first attempt but like you I am planning on making them as Christmas presents :j
(Hopefully by the middle of the year I will be better at it!) :rotfl:0 -
BEG. I feel your pain too, happens to me quite often. Now while stitching I find myself stroking the back of my fabric looking for knots
Today's frustration - one single french knot - the damned thing kept 'disappearing'. Typical when you want it to knot it doesn't.
