Just popping in to say hi, still stitching although only one thread a night as its close work and makes me tired!
It's this one:

Hope you're all well.

Looking good. I know what you mean about tired eyes and stitching at night - the dark fabric won't help either0 -

bossymoo - looking forward to seeing your update of Victorian house.
craftycrafty - your square sounds lovely. Looking forward to seeing a piccy.
maria - how frustrating. I seem to have done more unpicking than stitching these last couple of days - not just stitching in the wrong place but thread has been getting knotted up on the back and I have carried on without realising
Despite unpicking etc I am up to the backstitching on 5th Day of Xmas - so hopefully by the weekend I should (fingers crossed) have that done.
Neices birthday beginning of Feb and I fancied doing her this card from Making Spot.
Take care everyone

Love the card design. How old will your niece be?0 -

glad other on here agree with me about dark fabric being harder to work o in the winter, DS1 was taking the pee becausre ive not touched titanic for a while i said its too hard in the winter so will come back out in the spring, he said i was talking rubbish and had obviously gone off it as "sewing is sewing whatever colour the fabric" hes obviously got no clue about stitching!!SPC~12 ot 124

bossymoo - that is coming along lovely. The finished design is really striking. Will it be a present?
Hi
I don't know, it was a gift for Xmas. I love doing them, but, am I allowed to say I think they are a bit twee :rotfl: can't see it fitting in with my decor.Bossymoo

Have finished the cross stitching on Snowflakes (perle thread and large count linen made it a quick and easy stitch). It came with a snowflake button which I will add on 31 1 13 so I can date it then and that will be my first of my 13 in 13 projects completed. Photo to follow.
Have found another UFO that I want to finish this year (can you tell that I have been trying to tidy up my stash?)
It is this design My fabric is more green than the designer's model. I have stitched the cottage and the first 3 rows so lots to do.
I had to wait for a DMC order from Across Town which I placed in December - some was sent almost immediately and the rest took a while but arrived safely eventually and I was happy to wait. Hope all is OK as the prices are great.0 -

If you have one I would always say a LNS as you can actually feel the fabric and see the colours properly. But I know not everyone has this luxury - I've got 2 near me and although they are sometimes a little more expensive than online I try to support them as I would hate them to close. And a couple of stalls at our local market also sell some patchwork material - have you got a market near to you? Hobbycraft sell patchwork fabric but they are expensive unless you can pick up something in the sale. Same goes for John Lewis.
There are hundreds of online retailers as well as lots of EB sellers but it is difficult if you don't know what you want and you can''t return cut lengths of fabric
If you want to try quilting you will also need some wadding which goes between the 2 layers of fabric.
Are you planning to use your machine to quilt or are you going to hand quilt?
Using an old sheet or pillowcase especially if pure cotton is a great way to experiment without risking expensive material
Hope this hasn't put you off - I love patchwork and quilting almost as much as XS0 -
I have lots of old cotton curtains and bedding would it be good to experiment with these or would it be better to buy a jelly roll or the other one whos name I can't remember? No you haven't put me off lol will be using my machine.13 in 2013 challenge 9/130
