  • Hello everyone!

Hello PurpleCrutches, its nice to 'meet you'. I'm new here as well. I've found the people here to be very welcoming and extremely knowledgeable :). I'm sorry to hear about your back, thats one of the reasons I recently took up cross stitching due to a back problem. It was a hobby I could do as I had to give up others. But I'm finding that its very additive and fun to do!

couldsavemore, I think I'm slow at stitching as well. Although, I'm getting faster the more I do. I just tell myself that every stitch I do counts towards the end finish. Have you got to the coloured part of your project?

nmm, they are fantastic cross stitiches!! I'm truely impressed with them. I will try to find a way of showing you what one I'm doing at the moment. Its quite unusual as the threads have a bit of wool in them, so it gives it a pretty finish.

I need to think of what new years resolutions to make are. How do you all plan your future projects? At the moment I make a list of all the patterns I've seen that I like and when I am ready to start a new one I choose (painfully) which one I will do. I'm thinking of having a couple on the go at once....what do you think?

Edited to add - can anyone also remind me what weblink/address i need to use to access the subscriber pages for Cross Stitcher? You used to be able to download the Emily Peacock letters??

Hi everyone! New to the forum but not so new to cross stitching as have been doing it on and off for around 12 years now (even though I'm only 21!)

Wanted to show you my recent (huge) finish but can't at the moment as I'm newly registered. Will hopefully build up a few more posts then I can show you.

ahhh dilemma. Managed to log into cross stitcher - couldn't find any subscriber pages :( but did see that my subscription fee is due out at the end of the month. Do I cancel. In this month's issue, there is only really one design I want to stitch! seems a waste of money to continue with the subscription. but likewise I've been collecting the emily peacock letters and will feel sad to miss out after collecting for so long. Can anyone remind me where we are up to and when the last ones were featured/which mag and what numbers they were?

these are nice - where did you find the patterns, especially the star one?
Hubby is boring me to death, all the bond films in the correct order! By the time we get to the end of them all i'll be bored to tears !

Perfect time to do some stitching.
morning everyone seens very windy outside.

have you all been stitching for years. i did do some a few years ago but then left it for a long while so I'm now trying to get back into it

Weather has been awful up here - extremely windy - didn't sleep much last night - might have a nap later.

How long - way back in 1989 (last year of high school) went to a Ranger/Young Leader (Girl Guides) camp and we had to design a bookmark with the materials there - so I designed a kind of cross stitch mark - I had done some designing on the computer at school and just seen my pattern as a bunch of pixels. Mum still has it - need to get a picture. Then in approx 1992 cross stitch collection came out and I missed issue 1 but mum found me issue 2 and bought it for me. I completed the wee kit and I back ordred issue 1 and been a collector ever since. I took a wee dip when hubby No1 died (magazine still came in - he had bought me a subscription) but bounced back with some help with certain young ladies in here.

Well I have been a busy wee bee getting on with my charity and Sandy Hook squares. Here is the first of the letter Os I am doing for a charity quilt for the AOY group on facebook.

Later I will be starting to prepare the meal for tomorrow - going to be making a lamb hotpot followed by banoffee pie. Just wondering how to re heat it without it cooking more and making the lamb "weird". Will also make some more chocolate truffles - my brother adores these - says they are better than that Thorntons mob. I am making the meal here and serving it at their house 25 miles away as they have a proper dining table to eat at and my mum doesn't leave the house.

Tonight we will be just staying in - courie down with the cat and watch some TV and I might have a couple of glasses of wine or some vodka and pink lemonade.

Keep well everyone - see you next year if not before it.

    Slange var!

Here's the finished UFO, just need to mount it in it's bookmark now.

I must confess, I made up the veins on the leaves rather than follow the pattern as it was this that was nearly impossible to do

Didn't get time to copy chart at work for next big project, but I'm sure I have some cover kits that will keep me occupied until Wednesday.

    Happy New Year!

I *think* you'll find that what you did was amend the design to make it unique to you. Ahem. :T
