mrs-moneypenny, have added your card to the group :)

I've decided to take up one of those 5 issues for £5 offers, i'm stuck between Cross Stitch Crazy & World of Cross Stitching, which one has the best free kits as that's probably what will swing it. I really like the animal designs in Cross Stitch Collection but they don't seem to do free gifts :(

The other thing i mentioned was a full set of DMC, OH didn't seem so keen on the £125 price tag :rotfl: anyone know anywhere cheaper? Thats from ATS, don't need them on bobbins etc, just the threads would do me :)

My impression (though I haven't checked it out) is that WOCS has more variety of charts. Also WOCS seems to have different free gifts - not always kits but things like a diary, a calendar, chart booklets, threads etc.

In my experience Cross Stitch Collection doesn't do free gifts or offers like 5 issues for £5. But if there is an issue you really like you can buy it online for the cover price (no p&p)

ATS price for DMC is very competitive - the RRP is something like 80p per skein  so I think you will struggle to get cheaper genuine DMC unless you know someone who can bring some back from USA for you.

Great progress on BD. I think lots of us are missing our quality stitching time this month

  • welll got sidetracked on a Lego robin mission last night so only managed about 20 stitches.

on the plus side I am off work today so DS1 is at school, DS2 is downstairs annoying his daddy and I have seeked sanctury in my bedroom with my laptop and cross stitch.
Going to see DS1's christmas concert at school this afternoon then..... if he does a good performance (nothing like bribary in this house for getting the best out of your children) we shall be going to sizzling pubs and taking advantage of their 2 mains + drinks for £9.99 and kids meals for £3.00 offer and indulging in a MASSSIVE choccy sundae for an early tea.

    YUM YUM YUM.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

Which one did you get, Maria? Father Christmas is bringing us one next week, so I won't get to play until then. I LOVE butter chicken, so if you wouldn't mind sharing your recipie for that...:D

I have a huge list of things to do by Christmas. Luckily one of the things is to finish stitching mum's forever friends bear, so I chose to do that today! Oh, she loved her Christmas card, by the way. :j And the reindeer luggage tag.

  • I started easing myself back into x stitch with some easy Christmas tags that I got free with a magazine but I had forgotten how addictive this is!

I spent my lunch hour yesterday stitching and after I had got home from work and had my shower I was back to stitching again - stopped at about 10.30pm :D

DH works nights so he leaves the house at 9.30pm, both teenage DD's then head up to their room (their choice not mine) so that just leaves me and my lovely border collies downstairs, must say I am really enjoying being able to do something for me finally :j

Well I've made it back BEFORE Christmas! I've made loads of progress on the Christmas Sampler this week as my heart rate has gone stupid (137 on resting!!!) so Doc has ordered a week of nothingness - not good when the inlaws are due on Saturday!

Anyway, here are a couple of progress pics....

    Make Do & Mend - 19th Dec 2012 by ejs2311, on Flickr

I love Make Do & Mend as there is NO, yes, that's right - NO backstitch!!!

Once i've finished these two I'm going to crack on with the Wizard & Margaret Sherrys Kitty In A Bag. I'm still a bit unsure about the convereted pic of our puss cat - there seems to be a lot of yellow in it and she's obviousy not yellow! Suppose it could be a Pop Art piece!

Congratulations to Chicky, Louise (I think) and Mrs MP on wins and magazine mentions (sorry if I missed anyone or got the names wrong).

My postie has just turned up with my 1st sub issue of Cross Stitcher - it looks fab but haven't even had a flick through it yet.

Enjoy your Christmas makings and stitchy time if you manage to fit any in :)
