Flat Eric. Hubby just got me a kinda fire and I love it, it has internet, downloadable spa (on the android network) and of course books, it doesn't have word or an equivalent though, so it really depends what you would use it for13 in 2013 challenge 9/130

Thanks TMIF and Maria :j I don't really need another gadget :rotfl: but having finally been able to use an ipad ... it got me thinking.... I do sometimes like to check stuff online but don't want to switch my computer on and my ipod touch is a bit limited on what you can do. I think I will have to investigate the kindle fire as price wise that's affordable.
I like your idea TMIF of visiting a shop - might have to do that. Good to get a proper feel for these things!0 -

I love my iPad & as you already have a iPod touch, you'll be able to sync photos/music/calendar etc, which is great. And you'll already know the way apple things work-although tablets aren't tricky anyway. Hubby has a Samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1, which he loves, but I don't get on with. Going to a shop to play & see what you get on with is a very good idea.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A0 -
I don't know if any of you do the sealed pot challenge but I'm taking part and intend to sit it out this year and not give up half way through!
anyhow - while I work out the finer details (for example whether I'm going to keep a weekly tally of the coins I save so I can keep tabs on how well I'm doing), I decided to count up the 5 pence coins I have been saving in a money pot. Now I've been saving them for yonks ! at least a year or more.
I wasn't expecting to become a millionaire ! but I was kind of expecting more than the £22 I've counted up! oh well. I think I shall bank it to help fund xmas. I have lots of pennies and 2 pence pieces. can't face another round of counting up at the moment.... nor the trek to the bank to pay them in. Does anyone know if there is a limit on how many bags you can take in at anyone time and does anyone have any suggestions of what to do with these coins ? I mean I'm not going to given them away - that would be silly and I shall include them in the sealed pot challenge but its the faff of counting them all that really gets my goat !0 -

I'll send my mum round to you. She loves doing it! We've got money boxes dotted around the house & every now & then she'll come & count them up for us. I hate paying them into the bank, though. Firstly, they weigh so much! And some banks get funny with accepting them. The PO would only take them as payment for something, Lloyds wouldn't do it as I didn't have an account with them & HSBC would only pay it into my account & there was a limit to how many bags they'd take-can't remember what it was, though, sorry. Different branches may have different rules anyway. Supermarkets have those coin star machines, but they deduct some of it. But it would save you counting...Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Everywhere is different
My experience: Santander will only take 3 bags for an adult account, but 5 bags for a childs savings account. Halifax/BofScotland will take any amount but only at their business counter and you have to have an account with them. (That's usually where I go)
However, if I end up running short of time and can't be bothered bagging them all I will end up using the constar machine (charges 8p per pound I think). That way I get the coucher and can just use it for my shopping. (Asda takes the voucher at the till, at Tesco you have to swop it for cash at cust services)Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Thats cool Ruth Honey - I'll get the kettle on.....
The day is disappearing fast.and I haven't managed any cross stitch yet.
I'm like a bear with a sore head today. had a bad headache yesterday which I thought I had got rid off but it came back with a vengeance late evening and I felt really sickDidn't sleep very well and today I feel grumpy, tired and just annoyed with everything. Hopefully a good night's sleep will put me right. Annoyed with myself as I think I've been overdoing it and have worn myself out. I'm on holiday now and I feel too tired to enjoy myself. sorry for the moan.

I've bagged up the 5 pences so shall be taking them to the bank at some point soon. £20 is £20 As for the coppers, no interest in counting them up yet but I will eventually. I have lots scattered around the house. I suppose I should put them in piles as I empty my wallet of them so that I can simply put them in the money bag when I reach a pound.0 -

Which bank are you with? I'm with NatWest and the branch near work has a fast pay in machine where you can pay in coins. Simply empty pot into the machine and it chugs away and counts it all for you. No counting, no bagging up the money, no limit :T0
