THE WORLD OF CROSS STITCHING Issue 198

Free Gift 1 - Joan Elliot Stitchers Diary with 12 charts, They are fantasy-style designs, there is a couple I would stitch

Free Gift 2 - Two Card Blanks - Useful

Country Companions - Tom Mouse pouring bubbly into a pyramid of glasses. This i a cute design, bu I won't stitch it.

Elegant Orchids - Very pretty, I like the white stitching against the Polstitches 'Addiction' fabric.

Chore Dice - Haha, fun design but it wouldn't work with my lot :D The worst thing about making a cube is having to stitch it up at the end.

Bedroom set - Flowers and mannequins, very pretty and girly, I can't think who I would stitch them for though

Craft Xtra - Pot of cyclamen - Urgh, no thank you

Sweet Treats ABC - I like this, very pastelly and girly

Design Library (Fresh Blooms) There are one or two I would stitch for a card, not many though, flippin flowers....:rotfl:

Spanish Dancer - Very eyecatching design, although I'm not keen on the colour of her dress.

Thank You cards - designed to go in the free card blanks which came with the magazine. I'm not very keen on the designs tbh

Cupcake of the month...Just when you thought they had finished...there's antoher one!!!

Butterfly cushion - Butterflies in blackwork style stitching. I like these, but wouldn't make them as a cushion.

Recipe Sampler - Hot chocaolate reipe and scenic picture of a house next to it. Very pretty, I like the house but wouldn't really want a hot choc recipe on my wall? (Especially when my hot choc isn't so fancy - milk/cadbury's hot choc / scooshy cream and marshmallows = DONE):rotfl:

Snoozy Mouse - Very cute, and very simple as well

Next Month - I like the baby picture (but not the buttons on it) cross stitching icke ted is adorable as well.

  • Visited a little Craft Fayre while we were in Harrogate yesterday. Some lovely items and very talented people. Lovely cards, handbags, teddies and glass work. We were quite taken by the felting. Has anyone here tried it? Will have to make futher investigations into this but would love to hear if anyone has done any/or had any experience with it.

Think washer will be on OT today. I think the fairies have filled by wash basket while I wasn't looking.

Must try and get some of the MP Cottage backstitching done - last time I had it out it was driving me crazy. Oh and I've got WOCS to open yet - will be glad when we move on from xmassy stuff now.

    Stay safe and warm everyone.

Ahh - so we were meant to get some random pieces of card! Mine are creased and marked so will be heading for the bin if I haven't put them in there already. I haven't actually sat down properly and read the new issue of WOXS - nothing has jumped out however either for this month or next month. Bit disappointing really.

Just for anyone else looking for winter boots the groupon deal is back (pair of boots for £14.99 + £4 delivery). I ummed and ahhed over it last time but this time I'm going to go for it......and hope they are a comfy fit (might go for next size up so I can fit an extra pair of socks on).

Just hope they get here before it snows.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

I signed up for this yesterday. I usually *give up* the sauce in January but thought I would make a special effort [STRIKE]this[/STRIKE] next year and if I can raise a few quid in the process - all the better.....

finally got my paws on an Ipad yesterday. was interesting to try it - not convinced however and certainly not at the price tag they retail for. but I wondered if anyone that posts on here uses one and how user friendly you find it ??

Is it an Apple product, or a keyboardless computer that you like the idea of?

You could look at some of the Android tablets - work just like an Android smart phone, but obviously bigger. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10 is one of the best, but we could help you choose up to your budget.

What're you going to use it for?

Pop down to Currys and have a play, they have a big display of all of them by the front door :)
  • Still OT :)

This is the same size as the ipad mini http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/asus-google-nexus-7-tablet-32-gb-18781475-pdt.html or http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-7-tablet-8-gb-14272573-pdt.html?intcmpid=display~RR~Computing~14272573

This is the same size as the normal ipad: http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/samsung-galaxy-tab-2-gt-p5110-10-1-tablet-16-gb-14643383-pdt.html?intcmpid=display~RR~Computing~14643383 or http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/samsung-galaxy-note-10-1-tablet-16-gb-17907962-pdt.html?intcmpid=display~RR~Computing~17907962

Do not buy one of the £100 android tablets until you've tried them out. The touch screen is (for me) rubbish - also some of them don't allow access to google play store, and you need that for the free apps.

There are loads of threads on this on the techie page on here...

    Good luck :)
