Good morning stitchers.
This is always a mega busy time of year for me with birthdays and Christmas preparations plus our busiest time at work which means long days and some weekend working. So have only been able to pop in and read some of the posts and not reply. So this might be a lengthy post - suggest you order a cappuccino and muffin before embarking on reading.......
Louise So pleased that your marking pen disaster had a happy ending. Will look out for that stain remover - sounds like useful stuff to have in the house.
Lovely poem for your Mum
firefly The birth sampler looks really cute
chicky Little Star Stitches - one to avoid I think. The completed Christmas Stocking looks great but not impressed at all with the issues you had with them or with their response. Stitching with one thread smacks of the supplier saving costs
Love Ben Elf's sleeping quarters
Hope your thread bargain arrives soon
Lovely framing
skoobie Angel is looking beautiful
Love the Sue Hillis Christmas Calories chart
across town and CSH Interesting thread I've used both withouth problems though have had to wait occasionally for some items from both - inevitable I think when using small suppliers
pap The Stitcher's 12 Days of Christmas is approx 6 inches by 35 inches so plenty to keep me busy for the next year
ruth honey love your Christmas pots and Dragon's wording is very suitable
nmm I could almost feel that fur
sesame street Ridiculous price but if anyone is really tempted then it is cheaper at arts and designs though still £57.25 (free P&P)
sweetcarer Love the seasonal band sampler. Rhodes stitch isn't really like algerian eye which is a pulled stitch but you could easily substitute
You have made great progress with the purplework
Thanks for posting the code about the Black Friday sale - I saw it too late which is a good thing at this time of year :money:
Love the way UK retailers have latched on to the Black Friday sale idea
Thanks for the yummy pumpkin pie
catwoman Stunning!
stitcher A belated hello and welcome:wave:
brednall Love Jemima Puddleduck I have stitched some Beatrix Potter designs in the past but they don't seem to be as popular at the moment (that may just be amongst the people I know). Lovely designs for coasters
littlemonkey Your latest piece is gorgeous - love the colours
maria You have been busy - fabulous work
beg Christmas wreath is lovely and the frame really sets it off. I love the Harrogate show though I haven't been for quite a few years
tellmeitsfriday Your advent calendar is wonderful The Night Before Christmas is my favourite seasonal poem and I still know it by heart from reading it to children and grandchildren so many times over the years
Hope everyone is managing to stay safe and dry during this awful weather0 -
verdict: both ears congested, both have fluid in, brian and ears feels fuzzy but as there is nothing they can prescribe (and - in his words: "you can try steam and olbus oil and sudafed but do they work.....I'm not convinced" ) I've got to go back to work.
Woooop - that'll be interesting!!
I have a feeling this was the same dr who told me DS2 was fine when even strangers could hear the crackle on his chest - a week later when I took him back was told he had a raging chest infection.
He basically doesn't believe in medicines and unless you are dying you should just put up with it and cope. can't stand him (but he was the on call dr for todays 'ring on the day' appointments so had no choice.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
BEG. Really like the holly wreath in the silver frame.
tmif. Very nice advent calendar, really like it.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
LOUISE
I meant to say that when I was looking at Cross Stitch Crazy earlier, I couldn't see any details of our lovely cafe on the Cross Stitch Club pages. I know they featured us as club of the month but I haven't been paying attention - was that it ?
x
It was Chicky who got us in the mag :T It was just a one off though, I don't think we have ever been listed in the club pages?be telling me off !
let me know if you think my choice of material is a good one ? I don't think I want to stitch on evenweave and don't think I have any other blue aida ? I don't really want to be buying more.... the blue pearl aida I have is a light blue and I think will work...
I think snowmen always look nice on pale blue fabric. I think the flecked one will be even nicer
TMIF - You kept that one quiet, I didn't realise you were stitching it...it looks amazing:T I did like the picture when I saw it in the mag, but I need another advent caendar like I need a hole in the head
Regarding sweets - you ould always hook a candy cane into each one? Or the ndividual sweet tied wth thread is good - I would get yummy Quality Street cos they are so colourful.
FOS - I had a cuppa handy for reading your post:jNice to see you posting, it's such a busy time of year.
Chicky - sorry to hear that. We had a Doc like that at the local surgery, he seemed to think people shoudl just get over things. When I was little my mum took me to see him when I was ill and he told her she was just being an over-anxious first time mum. Turned out I had meningitis and nearly died. We avoided him for 30 years till he finally retired:mad:Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Picked up the silver frame from £land. I had originally bought it to use for something else but it didn't work imo so I thought I would do a little stitch and send it down for church fayre.
Ordered new coat from M&S and it was in store to collect on Sat - DH had wanted me to go and collect it but I [STRIKE]couldn't be bothered[/STRIKE] had too many other things to do. Decided to wrap up this morning and brave the wet weather and lo and behold the road is closed due to flooding. Needless to say DH just sat with a smug look on his face as we had to do a uturn back home. Apparently there is a really heavy band of rain between York and Newcastle today and we are bang in the middle of it.DH and DS have had to swill garage out and as fast as they are doing it things are wet again. At least the house is dry (fingers crossed) and we are a lot better off than some poor souls. Hope things dry up before we go away on Thursday.
Take care everyone

Quick update on what I have been doing stitchy-wise
I finished Sophie's Stocking and this plus her sister Ruby's Stocking are in transit to their home well before Christmas.
I was putting the 2 of them out to photograph together when I suddenly noticed that one of the wings on Ruby's Stocking was misseid 4 rows  Stitching them when the stocking was fully made was somewhat challenging but I did it. I suppose the white on cream didn't show up well enough for me to notice earlier.

I've finished the stitchery on a Christmas cushion (not XS) and just need to finish making up the cushion

I've made a tiny needleroll as a Christmas decoration

I noticed the palindromic number last week (21 11 12) so had to stitch something - decided on a quick No Paper scissors fob with the date on the back. I've finished the xs but need to finish the fob. I used some of the offcut material from Sophie's Stocking plus red and black thread left over from other projects so very :money:

And I've done a little bit on Christmas Cheer which is my 12 12 12 project. You can't see a lot of progress as I had to do some reverse stitching

But at least this is only for me and I have finished everything I needed for presents :j
Christmas Card Exchange Has everyone finished their card ready for posting next Monday? Can't wait to see the photos of them all0 -

Thanks - I was in %miths on Saturday and checked out the new issue but nothing appealed. At least as it isn't in a bag - you can have a nose. :T
Louise - Oh my :eek::eek: shame the doc wasn't asked to retire earlier.
re the club list in the cross stitch mag - sorry I didn't mean to ignore chicky's involvement, I mentioned you as you had reviewed the mag so had a copy. I thought I might be going mad not being able to see details of our lovely cafe! I have to say I'm going off Cross Stitch Crazy and suspect I might be cancelling soon although as soon as I do - you can bet there will be a fab Margaret Sherry chart!/kit!0 -
Wow TMIF your advent calender looks fab
FOS lovely stocking, and finishes.
Talking of cross stitch collection. I have seen that Joan Elliott is doing a series again this time of Historical ladies. The first one starts with medieval Lady. Cant wait to see what they are going to look like.
I have been stitching a little over the last couple of days, but with all this rain and dull skies I have had to give up early due to not having any natural lightI hope that everyone is staying safe and dry and hasnt been flooded.
